Desperately Seeking!! / Yoshimura CB400F racing full exhaust wanted

Misc / Open / Racing a <500cc bike - best option?

Hi all.

After finishing the 400/4 bike(with some minor modificiations to do), i am looking for a new project. Not a resto this time, but interested in building (and racing) a racer.

So for this category(sub 500cc, and sub 1981 year), what would be the best pick?

Has anyone been racing in this oldtimer class, any experience?

I am in the dilemma:
1) Honda 400/4 - here is plenty to work with, maybe go with the 466kit? the frame is different than the 500/550? different for worse or better?
2) Honda 500/4 - no replacement for displacement, right? even so, is this better option(regarding the transmission issues) for racing than the 466 option?
3) Anything else that i am not seeing as an option(XS500, Z500?), but as far as I can see,the power output is arround the same, but with Hondas I am most familiar with, and the parts are widely available. Any other option?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated, before i jump into a project with the wrong base

CB350/400 / Horn reassembly issue

Hi all,

I have a problem with my horn. I have disassembled it, painted, put it back together, but it didn't work.

So I ordered used one from triumph tiger, It's a bit larger one, but it's the same 2.5A 105db horn, repeated, and tried it out, also doesn't work.

Now i think that i managed to screw something up while getting it back together. Or there is some other issue, but I do not know what.

So, when I connect the terminals on the main harness, it doesn't work. I have put light bulb indicator in parallel, and when I press the horn button it lights right up. So I think everything's ok on that side.

What's the use of the small screw on the backside of the horn?

Is this the right order: Horn, big washer, horn front face, small washer, blind nut?

Am I missing something here? I doubt that I have two not working horns.

Here are the pics of the parts of two horns layed out , can I assemble a working one from this?

Any advice would be much appriciated.

Project Board / 1975 CB 400 Four - Restoration

Hi to all,

I am in the middle of the restoration process, so I have decided to join the forum in the search of some answers.

Here's the process so far... I bought the bike in 2016 as a cafe racer build, but somewhere down the stripdown process I decided to restore it. Not that have gave up on the cafe racer idea.

Here are a few pictures, hope you like them:

Expanded the carriers for new coils (DynaCoil 5ohm)

Refurbished the airbox bleeder housing(don't know the exact name, sorry

Instruments and headlight rebuild:

New front brake

New rear brake

New blinkers:

New controls:

Engine rebuilt. Not done by me obviously, not on that level of expertise for now

Now onto the electric mess, trying to wire up everything and I do have a couple of questions but, at the moment, the wiring diagram answers the majority of them

A long-time lurker, found a ton of useful info found here but never had to contribute much. Now I have a several questions so decided to join the forum.

From Croatia, in the restoration process of CB400F for 5 years now
