I have scoured the planet to find the original rubber mounts for the starter solenoid ( see file) because they properly enclose the thing and tuck it away upright unlike the aftermarket one I have now that leaves it open to the elements. I had to settle for a top cover with a hole in it and I used a puncture repair patch to deal with that, but I've been advised one can't just use any rubber for a location like that....correct or incorrect?

I've made a point of putting a black and silver GB sticker on CB400F. I already have a historic style black metal number plate as is allowed, but what about the national identifier we have to wear abroad, even on motorcycles I've just learnt, I never complied though. I dislike the UK sticker as opposed to GB, did political correctness cause it?  I feel many continentals will mistake us for Ukrainians too, confounding the object of the thing. Anyone know the finer points here?

The hook shaped harness stay below the steering head (arrowed in image) is missing on my bike and given that I can't find it on CMSL diagrams I guess it isn't a separate part but a thing that was welded to the frame from the start as is the much smaller one a bit further back, the latter snapped off by my own hand (ham-fistedness ) I'm now considering having replacements cut and welded on, but is it worth the trouble? Opinions?

Is the float valve & needle of the CB350F interchangeable with the CB400F? The new one I purchased a while back for my 400 has CB350F 73 on the packet. Comparing the two my straining eyes aren't too sure they are absolutely the same.

See picture attached. Is there actually an easy way of making these round float bowl seals sit in the pentagon groove of the float bowl, obligatory red rubber grease has been applied. I'm ready to scream myself....help!

Could a badly seated valve be causing my air filter to get oil stained via Blow-by gas circulator that exists on the CB400F ( I gather it was created to deal with US emission laws). There is no pooling of oil in it's housing and the drain system below it isn't blocked but they are both messy as usual. I have just fitted a new air filter last week but whatever the problem it has made short work of my air filter unless the staining you see in the pic is to be expected? There is some black smoke at high revs in a short burst in neutral but not enough to have worried me.

Are the air box to carburettor rubbers on the CB350 and CB400F interchangeable? The item for the 400 isn't being quite so easy to find just now.

I dismantled the front brake callipers on my CB400F2 this morning after noticing the calliper holder wasn't being effected by the spring that is supposed to position it, that hasn't actually stopped the brakes working so it may have been like that for years even. My problem is the pin is so seized I'm wondering what to do, I've already caused some Sunday morning complaints with my efforts to release it. I've also damaged a park bench downstairs using the slats for a vice, I don't have the luxury of a workshop. I end up going on the CMSL diagram to make sure there is a pin going through there. Any suggestions?

Being a historic vehicle my CB400F2 is exempt the ULEZ charge that is soon to be expanded to the whole of Greater London to prop up ailing TfL (enough politics or I start fuming) but is this peculiar to London, or is it the norm with low emission zones around the country? I don't want to get into trouble if I go north of Watford.

These past few weeks I've found it very hard to start my engine again if I switch off with a hot engine. Keeping my finger on the starter and closing the choke usually gets me going again....any ideas?

Is the final drive seal at the sprocket a seal that can be changed without splitting the crankcases?
