Thanks for that
They have them advertised as genuine part...but I want original to the bike....big difference sometimes
I will hopefully find a pair...
Are they the same on the 500/550's etc...does anyone know

If I get a chance at the weekend I'll dig out the old original beat up mirrors and check the difference ...I think it was the stamp on the back one was oval (new one) original was diamond I seem to recall but other than that not much difference maybe length?

Yeah ill get more pics up...
When I got it it had a fairing so mirrors were removed ...I did think I had a set kicking around but I don't have a matching pair they will do but it's so standard I don't want to just stick bits on it as they never get changed...so I am on the look out for a genuine set..... (any one got a genuine pair they don't require?)
I see silvers do a genuine mirror.at about 17 quid...are they the correct ones ?

I got a pair of those mirrors .....i have originals also but not quite the same would be my opinion.

The part I looked for the longest for my 400 (about 2 years ) but I had to just have it!....was the petrol pipe protector its just a coil of wire, but I wanted one. I ended up buying a group of parts from eBay USA for about $15 and $10 postage. I made my money back selling the other bits over here, I'm not a rivet counter or anything, it was just a challenge as it gets lost from 400's,how many 400's on here still have it attached?

The heat shield spring is used on many motorcross bikes and anything off road >>>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motor-Bike-Cycle-Fuel-Petrol-Wire-Pipe-Safety-Spring-Cover-Heat-Guard-Shield-ATV-/171959925173?hash=item28099c39b5:g:mHUAAOSw4iRWE5yS

That part looks close but no cigar......I only wanted 400/4 specific parts.

Cheers.......Dave

I have some old OEM ones, one is longer and has a bigger dia but, I have a smaller one that came from my old 400. It is a bit tarnished and you are welcome to it  ;)

Thanks for the kind offer but I have the part now, my bike has a few non Honda parts fitted but I consider those to be upgrades on the original spec. The pipe protector had too be had  8)

Cheers Dave

...funny old thing Dave I found that easily... Wemoto as I remember. Granted, maybe not OEM but certainly perfect enough.

But... have you tried to find the 4 weeny black plastic caps that fit over the car air screws?  Good luck with that one!

Simon.

(PS, I did, tracked down a set at bloody £2 each)

I looked for that specific part as a challenge just to see if I could get it, my carbs had the plastic caps on the screws I'm glad I never needed to track those down! I reckon you did well finding those. I still have a couple of parts I'd like to find but its not the end of the world if they don't turn up.

Cheers...Dave

CB350/400 / The Original Part You Found Hardest To Find?

When I restored my 400 I had a struggle finding a couple of original parts that I had to have, even on a well known auction site looking world wide......... Things are better now with the repo stuff so what is the hardest part to find for a 400/4 now.

Hello, nice project my choke lever seems to be zinc plated I never bothered getting it redone, the rust came off and left a nice finish with a soft wire brush.

I had the same problem when I bought a new motad system years ago, I was not putting the down pipes in the correct cylinder it looked right but it wasn't if you know what I mean. Swap them around it fitted after lots of tries.

Sorry, its a 1976 CB400F2. The part cleaned up seems to have an off white/light grey plastic colouring, if that helps?

Thanks

Thats the original finish, the washer that seels it to the air box rots look after it  ;)

I think i tried to buy those two clamps on the down tubes and had no luck finding them, take them off before you skip the rest... they may come in handy in future.
