« on: March 11, 2014, 06:35:22 PM »
Hi All
Looking for oil supply came across Autoparts selling Castrol GTX  10w40 4ltrs at 50% off (list apparently £28-79)
for £14-95.
Having only just getting the bike on the road i'm sure this is what i used back in the 70s.
comments, before i buy please.
Cheers Rich

If you can get drawings or a pattern to copy I have had silencers and complicated 'v' twin exhausts made in the past by www.unityequipe.co.uk .they may still do specials.
good luck Richard

Go along totally with the Hammerite comments, used it this week for the first time in years, small parts i stripped from the bike last weekend ,thought it was me not shaking the can long enough, after 10 mins, the same, rubbish now.
I'll try the other recommendations.

Tricks & Tips / Removing chewed up phillips screw
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:00:00 PM »
Having stripped my 750 into a million parts the weekend and
with the help from my son to remove the engine decided to take the breather casting off
seized up front screw, the only one i have come across during the strip.
My son showed me a great way to remove it.
Drill a hole in the top 2.5mm dia or so ,tap  a torx bit into the hole, attach
ratchet handle and hey presto out it came.
Might be of use if you get stuck.
Good luck Richard :)

CB750 / Curious ht leads
« on: February 20, 2014, 10:20:50 AM »
Having bought 750 back in September from guy, even older than me, giving up bikes. He gave me a receipt for full service ,mot ,collection and delivery service. so not ridden at all.
I have done about 100 miles only on it before the rains came. Tried to get it going weekend and it ran poorly checked carbs, full of muck (despite service receipt saying carbs stripped,I think the old boy was stitched up) anyway i digress.
I checked the HT leads last night and 2 and3 were the wrong way around how could it run????

too much traffic in North Kent now so moved south of Ashford just not so much around the lanes.
Just too many potholes. My 1927 Matchless is rigid frame and seeing it can do 70 hit a big one
and you are mincemeat.
Still no joy finding my CB175, sent a begging letter to dvla last week with an sae to send on
to current owner but won't hold my breath.
Any tips on easier engine removal.
cheersRichard
