CB750 / Tyres & Wheels
« on: June 30, 2016, 09:21:17 PM »
Hi,
Me again.
Just wondered what you fellas did for tyres. Want something decent that looks period. Do you use DS, ebay or is there somewhere else?
Incidentally, they will have to go on a set of Lesters. Wasn't keen on these to start with but they are a period accessory and may well keep them in view of the fact that spoked wheels are fairly rare; can't seem to find any. Can get the rims and spokes but not hubs which are currently buried in some landfill in Colorado USA.
Comments welcome.
Cheers all.

CB750 / That sickening feeling we've all had....
« on: June 20, 2016, 07:06:33 PM »
DK/DS special progress: had the head skimmed to try and solve the massive oil leak I had.
Head now back on and just bolting down the cam carriers...........when........we all know it...........the resistance suddenly disappears. One stripped thread; well 3 actually.
I think this is due to some abuse its had in a previous life.
I was using the figure of 8ft lbs as given in the Haynes manual for 6mm threads.
Q: has anyone got any experience of Helecoils in an alloy head? The screw holes look to be blind and as long as I cover up the oil holes and valve springs I should be OK....
Whaddya think?
All advice welcome.
Thanks in advance.

CB750 / Whats this??
« on: June 18, 2016, 09:33:18 AM »
Hello Chums,
I was a bit peed off to spend £40 on a set of gaskets from DS only to find that some O rings are missing; like the crucial ones between the barrels and head.
However, also got some rubber oil seals and don't know what they are for; don't remember seeing these on the strip down.
They are soft rubber rings about 8mm high and 15mm in diameter and there are 8 of them.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

CB750 / DK Special update

Found the oil leak.....
When I bought it I could see it had been 'down the road' a few times but I wasn't expecting that.

Also, while I'm on: I've had all the plug leads off and didn't mark them. (doh!)
Looking at the points, I assume the leads from one coil serves cylinders 1 & 4, whilst the other serves 2 & 3. But which of the two coils goes to which??

CB750 / Torque wrench settings
« on: January 24, 2016, 10:42:40 AM »
Hi all,
I've done a forum search on torque wrench settings and not come up with much.
Can anyone direct me to a list of what settings should be applied to bolts on a CB750?
I've replaced all the chewed up crankcase cross-head screws with allen bolts and these can easily be over tightened, so this setting is crucial.
Thanks in advance.

New Member Introductions / Hello - newbie here
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:10:02 PM »
Hi - Returning biker HERE and have always had Hondas from when I started in 1971: C100, C102, CD175 sloper, CB250K2, XL250 K0 and CB750K2.
But I have always hankered after another CB750 after I sold mine in 1990 and finally got one but it needs a lot of work.
Quick question: I've got the shop manual, but I came across a site where you could download the parts book for the CB750 (came in 4 or 5 parts or volumes) and I'm damned if I can find it again. Can anybody send me a link to where this might be?
Nice to be back.
Thanks in advance.
