Long gone,  I  did part ex it for a cb750k6 though. Sadly back then I  had a passion for riding but they were also my main form of commuting.  Eventually children demanded 4 wheels.

Hunting for an old picture of something else and came across this, would be 1985. Don't ask about the colour 🙄 [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Ah thank you. 247****CB750E seems to point at 1976 k6, frame didn't seem to be there, CB750G101****. Wonder what the G is? Trying to work out what happened when, is anorak end fun. First Registered in 82 it continues to give itches to scratch.

G as understand it is genuine F2 .

Your rolling chassis has all F2 components as far as I can see in the other thread.  Just looks like someone has switched the engine and painted it black.
yep, and painted it black with a yard brush and only the top of the fins 😂

Is your frame like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352691937276 - a DOHC
or this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373126537276 - a SOHC - just examples
this is mine. Not the same as either at the rear.

The engine and VIN list is only for the USA  :o CB750G ? That should be a DOHC and not a SOHC. Little bit of a confusing bike any pictures ? I think i see a CB750F2 SOHC with a G in the VIN but, i am more in to the pre 1976.

Trigger, if you don't mind me asking. How do you know the year from the engine number.  I only ask because the motor sat in my f2 rolling chassic is clearly not an f2. (It has more surprises than Cilla).Knowing what it is will be helpful when it comes to gaskets and seal etc.

I think there is much need to watch and record everything I pull apart. I admit I am somewhat confused but I  have decided to embrace it and see where it takes me.

I figured this was the right section for narrow this down. My background in vintage cameras often finds me trying to square of details, just for the curiosity angle.  My bike,  frame and engine numbers are stated on the log book as registered in 1982. Originally sold to me as a Honda britain cb750 ss limited edition. I know it is not! Far to many inconsistencies all around. I  assumed though it had been based on a sohc f2 though all thr same.  1982 however seems very late for that even. What do the more knowledgeable heads say? Could it be just old showroom stock?

This confused bike continues to throw curve balls. Dropping the sump pan off for inspection reveals the bottom of the engine isn't painted. Then while stripping the rear brake master cylinder I looked up the replacement service kit and it appears to be 750f. Of no consequence but glad I took it apart first. 🤪
