I have a TECuni5 and checked again that dot/mark on the cam is facing the TEC stamp on the plate.
I'll give it a go with 0.2mm shim as well.

The points should be closed on approach to F mark and should open exactly on the mark. Move the backplate until it is perfect, then adjust the 3/4 side by moving its own adjusting plate without moving main backing plate.
Cheers,.that makes more sense! I had it backwards. But I have given it a good many tries and I just can't nail it. Set at 0.3mm and 0.4mm and just can't get the adjustment required. Not sure it's the spark advancer or I'm just fundamentally missing something. Videos show this process to be fairly easy.

Hi all,
Really struggling with points adjustments.
I've followed few videos but I can't seem to get the points to close at the F marks.
I'm using a multimeter to check continuity, and for example the 1/4 point is closed until just after these two marks.

When reaching the F mark point is now open when it should be closing?

I set the airgap using a 0.3mm shim by going to 1/4F mark and rotating 90deg unitl I see this tang.

Could the advancer mech be the wrong way around? It is something I checked on here previously to make sure I had it right way around.

The CBR 250 with the gull arm on it red line's at 19,000.........that's just into the red too. Absolute riot to ride
That is a lovely bike - couldn't afford it though which is why I ended up with the fizzer which had an almost equally absurd 18ki-ish rpm redline.

The one on e bay for £35 ish had sold - did you buy it?
No I didn't - not sure I saw that one. There are a couple but in the US & Canada but all over £50 inc postage. Would it be the end of the world if I removed it? Mine is definitely damaged and bent.

The zx6r g1 was my first >250cc non-learner bike. I loved it. Had it in black/gold/purple though. It's on my list of bikes that I would like to have again, along with the Yamaha fzr250 3ln. Now that's a bike that screams!

A question on originality. I really like the k0 paint scheme in orange (and I'm long time Philadelphia Flyers fan) and prefer it to the k1 scheme. Would it be a big no-no if a k1 was re-painted with the k0 scheme? http://www.sohc4.com/bikes/cb550/Or should the bike be painted in the original factory colour. I want to get to as close to original look, but will make concessions on like for like replica aftermarket parts, otherwise it will cost a fortune. And I don't intend on selling it anytime soon.
