That looks like a Confederate Wildcat or something very similar.  Crazy expensive bikes from America.

Sounds like a problem with the ignition circuit not the solenoid as that only operates the starter motor when you press the start button. I would be checking the fuse box at the back where the wires are soldered on.

It shouldnt, the only connection is through the small red wire from terminal with battery cable to fuse

CB500/550 / Starter solenoid

Hi all. I've been having problems with my starter solenoid. The ignition sometimes doesn't light up until I give the solenoid a tap. Once I've tap it a couple of times the ignition lights up and off I go. Today the bike cut out and I had to get off and rattle it to get going again. I thought the solenoid was just a switch to get the starter spinning. Any thoughts on why this affects the ignition?

I ended up going to the Bike Shed event in Shadwell on a ride around basis, due to my days commitments getting in the way I couldn't go proper. Does the CB750F belong to anyone here in the first photo?
I don't know what the second photo is of, some amazing steam punk thing Jules Verne would have looked at home on!

I've fitted led indicators to both front and rear of my 550, the two wire rears work perfectly but I'm having a few issues with the fronts, that is they don't work at all.  Now I think this is due to their three wire set up, I should mention at this point that I also have a new Koso gauge so therefore an led dash indicator.  Am I correct in saying I need to fit diodes and reco figure the current 3 wire configuration?

Nice work on the instrument bracket. It looks very professional.  👍

Are the 3 wire front indicators made so that they can be used as daytime running lights (as in USA)?
If so you can leave the running light wire disconnected, not used. The other 2 wires would be power from flasher relay and earth. Just need to identify which is which.
LED indicators either use a resistor in each indicator wire with the original flasher relay or use an LED electronic flasher relay which doesn't need resistors.

With some LED's they need connecting with the right polarity - hope I'm not insulting your intelligence.
Some LED's are not Polarity sensitive but probably  most are.

I tested mine with a slave battery - some come with good instructions.

Good bit of Metalwork there Dom - always a nice feeling to make something yourself.

Thanks Ted!  Do you know if I'm barking up the right tree with my led's as I think you've done similar?  Currently the fronts won't light up at all.
