Misc / Open / VHI Registration 2018
« on: February 27, 2018, 12:04:47 PM »
My CB250T was registered October 77 so I took V5 to Post office to change taxation class.

Sorry bike has no MOT so it cant be done - Contact DVLA

Tried the CB750 F1 Registered February 1978 - Sorry You will have to contatc DVLA

Contacted DVLA - Advice as today presently advised change date stands of 1st May 2018

CB250T - If the bike has a valid MOT Post offfice will change to VHI  or If I wait untill 1st of May 2018 I can take it to post office  and update to VHI with No MOT or Road Tax

(No Rush will wait till May)

CB750 F1 - If I can get the date of Manufacture and send it to DVLA after the 1st May 2018 they will review and update to VHI with No MOT or Road Tax

Searched forum for who to get manufacturers dating confirmed - No Joy if anyone knows?

Keith Jnr on his cb750 f1 and me on mine,Keiths wife on her BMW F650

Unfortunatley Keith jnrs carbs were eratic causing a few issues along they way
When we got to the end of the ride my clutch started to slip and it wasnt adjustment not bad i suppose 29k on clock and 40 years wear if its original to bike
Nice trip home riding without clutch and trying to keep revs down on hills.

Not changed a bike clutch before But have the special tool from when i did the springs 18 months ago.

Other Bikes / 1979 CB250T Dream
« on: June 19, 2017, 04:12:50 PM »
New project in progress and I think I may need a bit of help.

the bike is a 1979 CB250T Dream which has a lot of good attributes but it would seem difficult to source some parts as they were only made 78/79 for uk

they are the USA Hawk equivalent which may help out a bit

A few pics of how it stands now - before i see it in the flesh so to speak

Bits to find
Rear inner mudguard underseat and plastic
Rear grab bar indicator stalks
Original wheels
Original exhaust - pattern parts available
Paint job - no probs
Sticker set - on internet maybe piki has them
Original 5 speed Dream engine
Side reflectors
Front Brake Caliper - I have an F2 spare if this will fit?
swinging arm ? maybe

just waiting for the courier to deliver later this week

any help appreciated

PS Brown Cafe Racer Seat available for trade as I won't be needing it if anyone has a set of dream Wheels available      or £? for straight sale

CB750 / CB750 F1 - Wiring Harness
« on: December 09, 2016, 07:15:20 PM »
The old harness on the yellow CB750 F1 project 2 is poor and really needs replacement.

We could just build another harness but would need new connectors, correct coloured wires etc, so maybe a pattern harness would be more sensible and cost effective?

Which would then lead to where could i get one from?

Anyone tackled this or know of where i can get a replacement/ new harness ?

CB750 / New Chrome Springs
« on: June 28, 2016, 12:53:58 PM »
On the F1 I have presently got painted Black springs on the Koni shocks.
They work perfect, but wondered if these chrome replacements would fit.

Ikon & Koni parallel chrome springs Pair 250mm long x 57mm dia 17/22/30kgs cm

Pair of Chrome progressive rated springs suitable for Koni and Ikon Dial a ride shock absorbers, springs have been made specially and are parallel on the outer profile with an outside diameter of 57mm , this gives extra clearance around the chain guard area on some motorcycles , springs are 250mm long x 17/22/30 kg per cm rating

Any advice please?

Cheers

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Paint - South Yorkshire
« on: April 06, 2016, 10:28:20 AM »
I have just been to see about a paint job for the jag and was passed to Arnie at Pro Kustoms for the coachline.

I was impressed with the quality of his work and he had a few 750/4 tanks and panels in for painting.
He airbrushes the decals rather than vinyl stickers and the quality looks excellent.

His workload means about a 2 month turn around at present
Average cost is around £400 for tank with painted decals and side panels

CB750 / K6/K7 Front Forks - F1?
« on: April 05, 2016, 10:13:15 AM »
Looking at our options and it would seem that F1 forks are limited in availability .We presently have F2 forks fitted but my question is in compatibility of various models.

I know the F1 fork legs are longer than the K6, but could I fit the f2 chromed fork legs into K6 or K7 bottom units.
or are they similar but not compatible.?

Any options for consideration the f2 fork legs has no fittings on the bottom units for the F1 mudguards
We can keep what we have for present but just so I know what to watch out for when I find them for sale

CB750 / CB750 F1 Rear Wheel Bearings
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:22:23 PM »
Just started to prep the rear hub removing all the grime and oxidisation.

Before I start on removing the bearings thought i should source some new ones.
Hunters motorcycles can provide:all 3 bearings (2 wheel 1 sprocket carrier) £20.00p Delivered, but not a complete kit
Good price and they are usually good quality

If this includes dust seals, I should be able to reuse the retaining ring? or DS may stock one

Will I need some other parts? O Ring ???

Any advice appreciated

Cheers
