What is it? / More info on exhaust ALFA ?
« on: September 27, 2020, 01:05:01 PM »
Hello, had this hanging in my garage for a few years, it’s in good condition and came off my 750k7, looks like a yoshimura type but has ALFA named on it. Anyone know any history of this system or if it’s correct. Have all the down pipes also. It’s a well put together system by the looks of it. Any info?

CB750 / Wiring schematic in colour for k7, is there a copy I can down load
« on: September 23, 2020, 11:18:02 AM »
Hello all, it’s been a while since I was last on here and also working on my CB750K7 uk model due to work and family life. But now I am going to finish my project off over the next few months, nearly there with it but just wiring to do and a few odd jobs to complete hopefully. What I am looking for is a colour wiring diagram of the k7 to help me put it together since it’s been a while and have mislaid a lot of paperwork I had. Should turn up at some point, but I am going to start this week end with wiring. I have new loom ordered with Alan, new handle bar switches coming which may need work or clean up. Does anyone make up hondamans fuse box here?, if not will contact him direct for one. There will be a few bits and bobs I am missing but with help with the community on here I am sure I will get up to speed to finish this bike. Anyway thanks for listening.

CB750 / It's been a while, but back and have a Q
« on: June 22, 2018, 03:03:42 PM »
Hello all, not been on here for a while, been away working a lot both on mainland and overseas. Family life and all that, built another bike inbetween kids at school and work etc. So it's time to resurrect my project cb750. Can't remember where I got to, but will have to go through my inventory of parts and run through the bike again of what's left to do. The one thing which has me thinking over the last 12 plus months is my carbs, PD series for k7, gonna junk these for early k1,2,3 series carbs and fit them onto my bike, the question I have do I need to replace the inlet rubbers to early type? And also if someone has done this is there anything else I need to swap over?.

Thanks

CB750 / Fork seals, Honda set better than copies?
« on: July 02, 2017, 05:51:21 PM »
Have a problem with mine now, new seals from pyramid, no major scoring to forks, just normal wear but in excellent condition. Fitted seals last summer, all good fitted new rubber geaters. Now my left fork is leaking badly, noticed a small oil slick and check under the gaters and it was full of oil. Bugger. Goner have to take off and redo this again. Problem is have not been out on it yet, still completing the bike.

Are Honda seals better than others?, right fork is fine no leaks. And yes I have fitted the correct way up. Maybe use a bit of sealent next time. Trigger you have Honda set of seals for k7?

Anorak's Corner / What's your brew, as in life trade
« on: June 03, 2017, 08:33:02 AM »
I have seen some varied life's of some folk come and go, and thought it be interesting to find out our forum members trades in life, no name dropping unless your happy to do so of companies you work for past and present. Just a bit of crack. Me,

Started life in joinery from 17yo, did my apprenticeship working on building sites and jobbing Clarkes of works. From there went into boat building, fitting out trawler boats from decking to all sorts, everyone mucked in. Then depression of government in early 90,s Brought this all down and lost job, took ages to find a job, and even then guys with engineering degrees and trades were working on farms or whatever they could to put a hot meal on the table, me included. It was the most depressing time of my life. But when a chance came along I went off to college and learnt something new, engineering!. Did this for 3 years and landed a job in oil industry, in Aberdeen so moved lock stock and barrel, rig hopping around the North Sea as cementing tech. Got absolutely bored with this within 12 months, good money, but bored out my skull. So jacked and went back to college and did degree in quantity surveying and been doing this since nearly 20 years. Worked for some big firms and travelled mostly around Scotland, now work for major international cables company, love my job and the people I work with, good bunch of guys. Would I change anything, maybe I should of stayed offshore, as I may be retired by now!, nah sod that.

CB750 / Jet sizes for pd 41a carbs
« on: May 18, 2017, 11:23:05 PM »
I had my carbs refurbed by a friend a while ago using the carb repair kit from Dss, the jet that came with the set is #155, looking through the specs I can't find what was the original size jet only us specs which state that a 1977 cb750 are 115. Which is the correct standard size?. I have 4 into 1 and race cone exhaust with standard air filter. Any recommendations of jet sizes I should use?. When I started the bike a few weeks ago it ran fine, just backfired at higher revs, but that was down to no air box fitted. Any help will be greatly received. Maybe 120, or 130 jets?

CB750 / 750k7, carb overflow tubes; easy replaced???
« on: April 17, 2017, 10:56:39 AM »
good day all, well i had my engine running yesterday for the first time, and boy was it good to hear it after all this time rebuilding. she runs great. this was a test run before i install everything else like airbag, oil breather pipes etc. i had the carb floats measured at 14.5 as recommeded, all new parts in carbs, apart from overflow tube and floats these are fine at the moment, however when filling the carbs from remote fuel tank two carbs overflow, so 1) i need to complete the fuel level tube levels on each, which i don't mind doing, and 2) maybe my overflow tubes are split, i need to inspect these closely. if i do need new overflow tubes in 1 or two of the carbs how easy is this and where do i get just the tubes for PD carbs?, is there a remedy to fix insitu? maybe some resin?. apart from that she ran great, but ran on half choke, which i presume is because i have no air filter box installed at the moment and the i need to balance the carbs.

Hi all, have been looking at these, looks like a fine set and can be rebuilt. Has anyone on here used or have these on there bike?. What are they like compared to originals or hagon. Looks a good deal to me to have these and adjustable too. Not bothered by the looks if they ride good. Thanks in advance

Misc / Open / Great Spring day
« on: March 11, 2017, 06:20:03 PM »
It's been a great day, the weather was warm, sunshine and the water over the moray firth was like a mirror. Went for a bike ride with the wife and boys along the roads and then along the shore of the firth. Stopped a few times to take in the view and saw an otter feeding itself bathing in the water on its back and also a brief break in the water a whale breaking the surface. Magic day. You have a great day. Sorry no pics, as the GoPro battery went. Doh

Misc / Open / Apple TV any good
« on: March 07, 2017, 07:35:33 PM »
Yes I know it's not bike related bug I don't know anyone who has an Apple TV box and wondering what's it like compared to Amazon Fire TV.

We have sky in our main room, Amazon tv in the family room but now our son has his own TV we are considering buying a new box for the family room and move fire tv to our sons room. Just wondering how Apple compares to fire TV boxes. We watch a lot of Netflix and Amazon prime, especially for the grand tour and Vikings etc. Can you download Amazon app to Apple TV also, if we want with that?.

Thanks

CB750 / C5 ignition and coils, what spark plugs
« on: February 08, 2017, 10:10:04 PM »
I have c5 electric ignition and coils, my wiring is near complete and hopefully have all connected and tested in the next couple of weekends. Then I will start the ignition setup. But I am confused with the spark plug caps, I have ngk iradium plugs fitted, plus I have standard plugs on standby.
The caps that came with the bike are ngk caps, but I don't know what ohms they are or if I buy new caps which ones do I purchase, I have been reading on here and on the other sohc forums but now I am confused which ones I need as I might as well replace what I have as I don't know how old they are. Is it the lower the ohms the better or higher eg 2000, 5000. Confused. Yep I am

CB750 / Single disc to dual disc front brake
« on: January 15, 2017, 10:51:27 AM »
Looking at making my 750k7 single front disc to dual braking, what works? Basically the same parts for single disc and fix to other side of forks, or is the brake calliper arm different from each side, looked at various conversions others have done and it looks the same set-up. Will a brake system from 550 work?
