Hi all,
My fuel petcock is missing the long tube I don't really know what's the functionality?
Thanks!!

the long tube is there to give you a reserve amount of fuel. you can ride without it but you no longer have any reserve.
-
I see! I need a reserve... Can't ride without it Is there anyone in the forum that have a spare one I will be interested!

In have some brass tube at work need to check the diameter though.

The magic of the USA Site sohc4.net forum :) Not sure if he didn't measure diameter on the wrong bit of the calipers though. Comments please?
I have some 5mm dia brass, I will make you one .. may take a day or so though.
cheers ... Ash

Wonder if it's actually 5mm?

When I stripped my CB350F fuel tap the reserve tube came off in my hand.
It seemed to have a taper fit so I used high strength Loctite and pushed it back in gently with my vice.
So long as the petrol doesn't dissolve the Loctite I'll be fine.

Ah, Noelia, too bad I just read this post now. Ik have buckets full of these fuelcocks. If I would have known earlier I would simply have put it in the package with the tank.
Well... if you still need one you can have it.

Just measured the Petcock on my 1974 CB750K4 US model. I cannot see it being different from the 500/550.
The Outside Diameter (O/D) is 5.5mm.
The wall thickness is 0.6mm.
The tube protrudes into the tank for a distance of 64.6mm (at the longest point - its angled).
Cannot measure how far into the body of the Petcock it is inserted as it's brazed in - but if you allow 25mm you won't go wrong and can cut it off later to give you the 64.6mm length you need when finished.
Measured using my cheapo Digital Caliper.

Just found a bashed up CB750K7 tank languishing behind my shed :-[ . Took the pertol tap off it and it has a plastic reserve tube (original fitment) that should fit perfectly. It tapers at the end where it goes into the alloy and should fit fine. Its from a 1977 tank.
Overall length 92mm, overall OD is about 5.8 but it tapers the last 15mm down to 5.35 mm wall is approx 0.7 ID is 4.3mm.
If you PM your address can post it today.
CMS part description sounds like an apt description of Ronnie Pickering ;D .... and NO I don't know him!
cheers ... Ash
