CB350/400 / Silvers pattern ignition coils
« on: January 05, 2016, 03:37:37 PM »
Got some replacement coils from DSS. Does it matter which way they are connected as the terminals have no identifying marks, and the cables (black & yellow) are separate patch cables. Cheers.

Looks like yours are K7 Phil. As Bryan says the output shaft bearing is larger on those. What a shame. Its 341 product code I need that appears to span K2 to K6. Thanks anyway.

Cheers Phil. That number is reasonably close to ours (2333840) is that a K5 set? That would get Alan's project back on track, I'm sure he wont mind driving up to Wigan from St.Annes. Not been able to contact him yet, so the problem may be sorted before he even finds out about it. ;D  Thanks Phil will be in touch.

Cheers Bryan. Am I right in saying the K3 to K5 cases are the same, and possibly K2 as well.

A few pictures of the damage.

CB750 / Cracked crank cases.
« on: January 03, 2016, 02:32:12 PM »
Hi all.

I am rebuilding a CB750K4 engine for Alan (MCTID).

Got the engine apart and am cleaning up the parts. After removing the thick goo from around the drive sprocket area (looks like the goo was deliberately spread out to cover it)I have discovered deep score marks and a large crack in the lower case, caused by a chain breakage.

The crack is beyond welding up as the alloy has been pushed inwards and is twisted.

Does anybody have a spare set of cases (obviously I will need both halves as they are a matched set) they would be willing to sell.

The bike is a CB750K4 USA import. I think (not certain) that K3 to K5 cases are all the same.

Thanks. Roy.

Says the bike is untouched. Looks to me like its been restored at some point in the past. Also, should the header pipes be double skinned as they are well blued? Not a bad bike though, and if it actually goes for 4k not too bad a price either.

Ash. Just checking before I buy the wrong thing again. Is this t-bar the correct head for the Genuine Honda casing screws.

How did the carbs come out after the dishwasher. Did that with mine and the alloy was almost black afterwards. Had to have them vapour blasted to get the shine back. Probably should have run it without detergent?

Everything's thicker in America. ;D Definitely a DK import and he will have paid less than 4k for it. Cheeky bugger.

I know nothing about 500's, but the paint on the tank doesn't look right to me?

LOL!  ;D
Damn', that shop is like a candy-store!  8)
Flange bolts, flange nuts, countersunk Philips... yumm...

Even a pre-sorted CB500 kit offered
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB500-Nut-Bolt-Screw-Stainless-MegaPack-/321414138066
In stainless and no details on the content though, but with Philips and hex bolts/heads pictured... tempting... another € 100,- though...

So what's the deal among hard-corers? A2 or BZP?
Has anybody used these Megapacks, they've been in my watch list for some time. This listing for the CB750 pack is a bit short on detail, is it for the entire bike or just the engine? The CB500 pack appears to be much more sorted, individual bags etc, where the 750 is just one big mixed bag.

CB350/400 / Re: CB350F crankshaft oil seal leak
« on: December 28, 2015, 05:40:22 PM »
A lot of oil leaks on British bikes, I found, was due to porous castings. Even after painting the insides with epoxy paint they still leaked. Guess its part of the character of the bikes.
