I have to say I use DS mainly, even special order item only took a couple of days extra, and the parts arrived as promised,

the dutch company ,I used for a rare speedo drive,ok,the P&P was expensive, and delivery about 10days for a stock item,
from the information given, the part wasnt picked for over a week, the deliver was much quicker,

I guess that happy when you buy parts for 40yr old bikes !!!

the handling is great !!!

CB500/550 / Re: re-newing HT leads
« on: February 24, 2014, 10:19:33 AM »
thanks all for your help,

in reply to Hairgit, over the years as the lead hardened ,they become more and more difficult to detach from both inner plugs, and the
cap fixing became worse over time, removing the damaged lead end,to give the cap fresh to bite on,has now made them very short!

the above is also the reason I had same problems as Florence ,

the water runs down each lead into the cap,and shorts out,
the outer plug dont have the same problem,

CB500/550 / re-newing HT leads
« on: February 23, 2014, 08:11:32 PM »
as my CB500/4 K1 is approaching its 40th anniversary,

it has come to my notice the HT are hard and brittle ,

especially when cold,

when riding in wet weather ,I am getting problems of cylinders 2,and 3 shorting out,

so I would like to renew, and extend the HT leads with nice new flexible leads,

could I have your suggestions on the best/easiest methods ?

CB500/550 / Re: oil pump leaking ??
« on: February 10, 2014, 06:49:41 PM »
took the outer casing off,

cleaned all around the pump and housing,

started the motor a looked, using a mirror to check underneath,

the end plate weeped a little, but the main leak seemed to be from the high pressure feed to the motor, that dripped quite a lot,
so,easy I thought,get my impact driver,remove all the screws,and the pump,fit new "O" rings,NP !!

WRONG !! those damn screws are so tight,I only managed to loosen one,
not wishing to risk damaging the heads,I decided to replace everything, and consult my local bike engineer,
gave him a list of O rings needed, and will get him to strip it down,

I went for Black shirt ,the logo looks good and solid,

nice quality fabric and print, includes washing instructions to help  preserve the logo,

thought I saw something on the checkout about a free mug ?

but I must have been mistaken,
delivery was prompt

CB500/550 / Re: oil pump leaking ??
« on: February 08, 2014, 08:25:15 PM »
There a few seals under that cover that could leak oil, it would make sense to clean it and see where it leaks when you next run it. My money is on the gear selector shaft seal.

the oil only collects in the pump section,I will ask my local guys if they have loose seals,if not,I guess
its try and find the Honda ones,

if I remove the pump,I will need

 2x 14 X ? on the mounting screws,
 1 x 47 x 2 pump to crankcase joint
 1 x 46 x 2 for end cover,
and maybe the 19 x 2 pressure relief cap

I have looked online for oil rings, seems if you know the size,
they can be had, very reasonably as well,
btw, what do think the max temperature around the pump ?

thanks all
