Try some copper grease behind the pads. I drilled my disc to see if that helps but haven't tested it yet.

Yep, check those carbs and clean them. 1 and 4 use the same coil/points so check those areas. 1 and 4 are colder cos they aren't firing properly due to the point/coil...possibly carb problem.

CB500/550 / Rubber Cushions
« on: March 12, 2012, 01:36:46 PM »
Has anyone got the rubber cushions for the top and bottom of the fork ears they don't need anymore?
Loads of little things I keep needing as it gets closer to summer and this bike's first outing in 20 years.
I looked after the big stuff and ignored the nuts and bolts of it.  :(

I see DavidSilver is doing a pattern rear guard now. I've been after one for years. Gotta start saving. :(

Don't those bolts bottom out? I just tighten them till they stop. :) Never a problem.

Yeah, It replaced the crablike frame my bike came with which has long gone to the scrapyard in the sky. I have the original green tax book. So it needs the numbers stamped on the frame?

Couldn't believe my luck getting it for £100.

What model is the bike?

No. The clutch will affect all gears equally. What was rebuilt and has this problem been there since the rebuild or happened after a while?

Hmmmm, anyone know how difficult it will be for me to register my 550?  I bought a new frame from DavidSilvers years ago..no numbers stamped on the frame. The bike hasn't been taxed since 84.

Tricks & Tips / Re: Swing Arm Bearings

Needle bearings aren't ideal in that application. The needles need 360 degree rotation to stay lubricated properly.

From all the reports I have read these engines don't like pods. Apart from being a nightmare to get running properly they are not as efficient as the standard setup.
Welcome btw.
