CB750 front fork pipe question

I can buy a set of NOS CB750 F2 front fork pipes (51410-393-003).

Will they fit into early KO (sandcast) and/or will I have to change more of the hardware to do so?

Not sure about the pipes but the bottoms were different on the F2

I very much doubt it Uli. Best place for K0 ones  is Yamiya, made in Japan. DS ones are made Italy and it's reported that they are chromed in areas they shouldn't be and don't fit without additional maching.

I think that the f2 tubes are 906 mm long from memory - earlier tubes are shorter (less than 900mm). Only know because there are lots of repo's on ebay and they state they state they don't fit earlier models

Sandcast and K1 tubes have a smaller diameter than other models

I thought they are all 35mm?
 
To precise my question: I will keep the K0 sliders.
The pipes have the usual rust on the upper part.

If the rust is on the part of the tube that is covered by the headlight ears, that bit of the pipe wasn't chromed from new, Honda's cost cutting, only chrome the parts that are visible!

The problem with the non-Japanese repros is that they chrome the extreme bottom section, so the piston  assembly doesn't fit properly. UK Pete reported this as he bought a pair of DS stanchions. DS wouldn't give us the manufacturer's details  to resolve it so I just bought mine from Yamiya, as they said theirs were made in Japan and guaranteed they would fit OK and about the same price. Of course Phillpots in the UK will superbly hard rechrome & grind  your originals and they will then last forever.Not a lot in it price-wise.  Not so sure on German re-chromers though in terms of quality & price. Agree ..nothing wrong with chroming the top section, Honda were obviously cost-cutting there but they can rust really badly because of this. It was the same with all other Honda stanchions around in the 60s -> early 70's until the 400/4 250/360G5 twins came out.

Here is a picture of UKPete's original stanchions. It shows the non-chromed bottom section. Subsequently he bought the new DS stanchions and had problems fitting them.

What part is visible on a K0-K6 ?
