I have been using a couple of Oxford 601 Optimisers on two bikes and both have broken at 18 months old. I thought when they arrived that they were a bit cheap and nasty compared to my older aluminium cased Oxford optimiser, and that has proved to be the case. Do you guys have any recommendations for good quality replacements. I was thinking of buying a couple of these as they look the business. Any ideas?

I use a (much) older Oxford unit, its the large style and is wall mounted,I tried to find one on fleabay, buts its so old its not even shown,
needless to say,it seems to work great,
only issue I have is the cost of spare leads and plugs,

I always use old mobile phone chargers if they are 12V with a 0.5A output. Does the same job

I agree with Trigger; I've used this style before and they seem to be chargers rather than maintainers, and boiled a battery dry over a few months. Also if you have your Oxford documents do you have a Three year warranty? Worth checking before you bin it!

I use an Optimate on my two, not had a problem, I had to renew the battery on the 750 last year but it had lasted 10 years.

I've got an Optimate too. It's worked perfectly for many years and I recommend it.

I no longer trust my optimate after it boiled a battery causing the casing to split. I now use a pair of lidl offerings @£12 a piece, the first one developed a dodgy switch after 3 years, the 2 that took its place have not put a foot wrong and do get a lot of use with a fair few vehicles both 12 and 6 volt needing top ups.

I decided in the end to go with a pair of Noco Genius chargers to replace the Oxford 601's that fried my 350 battery. They appear to be the business and have already saved an old sulphated battery. They are well made and hopefully will be up to the job this time.
