Yikes!!!! Water water everywhere

Just took the exhausts of my 550K3 and was stunned at the amount of brown water that came out of 2 of them when I tipped them up. If it's condensation then it must have built up over a long time. Has anyone else experienced the same and if so what's the solution? (no pun intended)

Check the drain holes are not blocked, avoid short journeys, and when you do go out on it make sure the engine and exhaust system get REALLY hot, that helps boil the liquid out of the pipes.

If I took the exhaust off my 400/4 I have no doubt I would find the same problem. When I start the bike from cold I get copious amounts of more black than brown water come out of the silencer. I did mention it on here last year and others also experience this problem.........piddling pipes I think we called it

It will always happen, and even more now modern fuel attracts water like a sponge, and even when the exhaust is dried out by a good long run, when it cools down it will again attract moisture the only thing you can do is ensure the drain holes are clear to help or like my self if it's a really good condition exhaust system replace it with a stainless delkevic and keep the originals on a stand indoors.

All mine fill up don't worry to much just enjoy the sound track.
You could always fill them with oil but they would smoke a bit when refitted.
I won't be swapping mine for aftermarket pipes. Why would you want to hide them away?

Especially at this time of year. At times you would think you were running a water pump. I have a 750F1 that still has its original exhaust in good condition. Rightly or wrongly every few tanks of fuel I throw in 100ml of 2stoke oil with the intention of trying to get a oily film on the inside of the exhaust to try and preserve it a while longer. You see plenty of old strokers about with there original systems on.

Drainholes? I checked for drainholes. I don't seem to have any. No joke

Hard to understand that there are no drain holes like on previous models. Leaves no other option than aving an old vacuum cleaner in your garage and ventilate the exhausts after a ride.

It's fine if you have a long ride because the pipes will heat up sufficiently to evaporate the water, but if you're doing short runs or just turning it over in the garage then it won't and that's where the condensation will come in. I think in future I'll take the pipes off  and make sure they're totally dry then I'll put the bike in a bag for winter

Long or short ride as it cools down moisture will be drawn in, but naturally just warming up and putting away again only compounds the issue, they were/are made to fail it's good business sense.

My 550 and 750 have the drain holes in the same place as Johns
Not that they seem to do much I still have water poor out if I remove and upend them.
