Hi from Attic

Hi all, I've just joined the forum, and am hoping to benefit from the wealth of advice that's no doubt stored here, hopefully plenty of entertaining anecdotes as well!
I'm a 51 year old bloke who has always loved and ridden bikes; my first was a CG125 when 17 and still at school, then the heady heights of a GSX250 (still at school, bought it fairly new for peanuts 'cos of the new 125 learner rules). Then onto the Jap fours; my favourites were the Hondas; I liked the style and the build quality. These were already oldish kit by the time I was in my mid 20's, but I did ride a lot of the new stuff and knew I would not last long if I bought one of the sweet handling scorchingly fast plastic fantastics; (I got to ride a lot of them as I was a mechanic at KC's motorcycles in East London, only for a year, but great days).
I rode dispatch for years and went through some bikes.
Wrote myself off a bit when I was 27 (cornering too fast) and had to give up riding for a bit, then got myself a 500/4 when I was 30; used it quite a lot for seven years, then moved to Bulgaria and left the bike at a mates house in the UK. Finally got the bike to Bulgaria two years ago, but then I had to come back to the UK for family stuff. The bike is safe and sound in Bulgaria (perhaps the only one there?) and I shall be back and able to use it again in about a year.
Here's a picture, all black and silver it will never be concours, or even close in my hands, but the engine is sweet, it's all fairly straight and turns heads (as long as you don't get too close!). Looking forward to tidying it up a bit and cruising around!
All best to you all.

Welcome
That's a bit longer than a small walk to the end of the garden just to tinker with it for an hour.

Hi Julie, I'm near a village called Horsmonden which is close to Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. I'm in a caravan on a farm, which is pretty nice, but hope to be back living in Bulgaria in about a year (have a house there and lived there for about 14 years before we had to come back to the UK) I'll have to get a van to bring stuff back to Bg, so will be able to hide a bike or two in it when the girl is not looking!

I know Horsmonden very well as my home town is Tunbridge Wells. Moved to Lincolnshire just over a year ago, don't ask why.....long story. Lots of forum members living down your way.

Really, small world. I used to have a bicycle shop opposite Argos next to the Guinea Butt in T Wells, lived in the town for six or so years, drank in that pub almost every night!

I think it was called something else when I used to drink there. It was a bit up market for me, my locals were The Castle, or Streets as it was previously, The Sussex and the Beau Nash amongst many others. Anyway, I wont be of any use to you as far as answering questions on your bike but the experts on here will be.

Trust me, the Guinea Butt was never upmarket, it used to be the Bristol, infamous for it's dodginess, then the Guinea Butt. The Castle, Beau Nash and Sussex are (or were) all great pubs that I used to use quite a bit (twenty years ago). I'm happy not to be in town now though, on a fruit farm surrounded by orchards, tis not bad at all!

Agree, Kentish fruit farms or Lincolnshire vegetable fields are far more appealing when you reach a certain age

Welcome Attic.
I have a mate who lives in Horsmonden, but he's not a biker... and I live in Somerset, so not a regular haunt for me but a nice part of the world.
Enjoy this space.
Cheers, D.
