Had a look at the oil leak at the weekend and found the culprit straight away. The cover brackets as you know, are labelled L and R so after making sure that it was  the 'L' one on top of the number 1 pot , which it was, I noticed that under the copper washer that was present, there was an indent I hadn't noticed. It appears that the bolt had been wound in really hard deforming the top so it would have never have sealed. I had put both washers on so there was no fault found except that.

Laid it on the vice end and tapped it flat, annealed the copper washer again and replaced the ally one that goes underneath. Bolt in, sorted and no leaks even if the motor is faffing about at the moment due to ignition issues.

Anyway, all good and apart from the ignotion fault,  quite happy to have no disasters appear so far. Mangaed to get both the mudguards on and finished so I have to
sort ignition
Tune up and check
Tweak headstock bearings
Bleed front brakes, fix lines and mount staying rubbers into mudguard
De rust tank and paint
Start to make the seat and cover

Nearlt done, whoop whoop, theres a chance of getting her out on the road this year at this rate.

So,
Thought I’d bob summit up to state that i do actually still own Mejima and I’m still fiddling……..just haven’t had a chance for a long time and three rounds of the USA in between has meant fiddling time has been minor.

Redone the patio, working on the fishery still, new soffits and facials the lot last year and fiddling with the road bikes to keep them going meant she took a back seat somewhat, it’s a been a busy year.
2025 is looking similar already with a move coming up in the next 4 or 6 weeks but don’t know where to yet ……….long story

Anyway,
Managed to finally get some bits on her so tonight and I bobbed on the new TEC shocks I wanted and finally got round to getting, opinions?
Not the best shots  but it’s dark and I’m struggling a bit.

I’ve swapped out the YSS set I had  as I found these which is what I wanted but couldn’t find any at the time.
As a result of fitting the TEC’s I’ve a new set of YSS shocks for a 500/550 for grabs if anybody is after any?
 Part number
RD 222-320P-29-18
KBA91113

They’re brand new and were fitted in the build but hadn’t turned a wheel since so still in mint nick. Gimme a shout if you’re after any. Open to offers.

Also remembered to put the newly done seat on her and fix it down. Chuffed with that tbh.

Don’t pick at the ally, she’s been under a tarp since September and it’s bloomed a bit. I feel a couple of hours of rag n Autosol coming on

Everything crossed for a test ride once she gets her colours done which won’t be til march at the earliest I reckon but it’s still progress and soul restorative to boot

I’d love one but currently in limbo for a week or two then need to find some Digs with a garage somewhere. Not sure where that’s gonna be yet…..weird scenario mate but yes I’d love one just nowhere to put it or I would, I’ve got quite a parts stash going here for the 550 so another is deffo on the cards, just need to finish this bugger first

I've been thinking getting those piggyback TEC shocks Roo, very nice! Bikes looking good mate, mine has taken a similar back seat since going full steam ahead on my workshop.  Out of interest how much were you wanting for the YSS?

'
Cheers Dom, they cost me £112 and as I say, theyve never turned a wheel, dunno really, would £80 sound terribly greedy?

Something like this but might go a bit bigger in the flake. Not quite ‘dodgem car’ metal flake but something with a bit more than that. Kinda like the orange though. Gloss black side covers, should look good I think and a bit different from the norm.
