Looks like a comfy ride that Roo. What colours you going for?

Something like this but might go a bit bigger in the flake. Not quite ‘dodgem car’ metal flake but something with a bit more than that. Kinda like the orange though. Gloss black side covers, should look good I think and a bit different from the norm.

Absolutely love that retro with a twist. Go for it matey. Rattle cans at dawn!
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Ooo, no, this is going to TCS in Bristol, he does an epic job and it’ll come back looking like glass from him.
Not bracelet enough to do it myself tbh

I've been thinking getting those piggyback TEC shocks Roo, very nice! Bikes looking good mate, mine has taken a similar back seat since going full steam ahead on my workshop.  Out of interest how much were you wanting for the YSS?
'
Cheers Dom, they cost me £112 and as I say, theyve never turned a wheel, dunno really, would £80 sound terribly greedy?

Thanks Roo, I'll have a think on it, don't suppose you know what weight spring they come with?  Being 10 ½st means they are nearly always to heavily for me

When I drilled the pin out in the 400/4 carb rail I replaced it with a grub screw after taping out the location of the old pin. I turned the end of the grub screw in the trusty myford to the same diameter and depth of the slot in the spindle. I also used a locknut on the grub screw to prevent it falling out in use and leaving me stranded!
On a previous 400/4 restoration I used a roll pin to replace the pin, a lot quicker but not so easy to remove in the future.
I remember Ken posting about a suitable grub screw in the past.
If you find the spindle is rusty when you remove it you can either get it hard chrome plated and ground (I was quoted about £140 by Philpotts!) but I contacted Max (formally on here) and he made one for me from stainless and it was excellent quality. He makes them for the 500/550 as well.
