Wiring question

Hello Everyone
It's been a while...
Finally got energy to crack on and get back to my Honda.
I got a harness from DS unfortunately colours of wires doesn't quite match to the original...
I'm wondering if it is better to replace old wires with the new colours or to keep the old original colours.
In a way holding on to the OG colours will help with wiring as I don't need to mark up the diagram with new colours.
Does any one had a similar issue, if so how did you resolve it?

Buy a better harness.
Jesus that's horrible, I'd send that back as unacceptable if that was me.
TBH the 500 harness is a pile of shite, all the power running through one fuse, if it blows that's it, everything is dead. 3am down a country road in Devon and mine blew, blacker than a coalhole picnic, don't smoke so no lighter or matches.
I replaced mine with a CB550 harness, most of the stuff is the same except the ignition switch which if you get a 550 top yoke you can use. If you do that however you also need to change the headlight bowl as the 500 one hits the switch, the switches can be adapted or changed for 550 ones. Sounds like a bit of work but it's better to do that than what your planning.

I agree with Ken, what is the point of making a replacement harness with different colours? I will have the same problem on my 500 as the wiring is terrible so will have to start from scratch.

Agree with Ken ... why the hell can't they make replacement parts that match the originals. It's the same with a lot of stuff ..90% there and spoiled by careless lack of attention to detail.
I would send it back to DS and get a refund .. at least they are good on refund policy.
Ken ... how about fitting extra fuses to the 500 loom?

It's probably do-able Ash, I didn't go that way as I scrapped a 550F2 and used all it's electrics instead.
I wonder if Al makes better harness, well I know he does, I meant does he do one for the 500?

Round pins on the generator connector, means he'll do a K1 version though as it just means changing a few connectors.
There you go Bomber, ask Al if he can make one for the K1 or if he can change the K0 one to a K1 harness.

Thanks for the comments. Don’t normally sell refurbished looms, but the original CB500 K0 loom on eBay is in good condition. Will also throw in the later 8-way blade connector if you decide to change it….offers invited on this one
