Koni shocks - rebuild info

Bought set of these length exactly as OEM on my 550K1.

Before installing them, I'd like to perform detailed cleaning and thinking if it is worth to rebuild them. But don't have any info about even do not know exact type.
Also thinking to send spring for chroming..

Any advices, addtional info?

My Koni's are not chrome and - being a matter of taste ofcourse - I prefer the looks of the black ones. I guess it makes a black bike look faster.

Yes, in your case I would accept black too, but for my bike I think chrome would be better 

Prices are raising in Slovakia too, but in 1-2 years timeframe will be even higher, so sooner the better..

Reopening this therad - yesterday I wanted to install them on my bike, but I realised that left ne has conflict with chain cover-guard (I forgot to make photos). Options I have are - remove guard (I do not want), modify my guard (cutting piece or using hot gun change its shape where shock is touching it), or the last option (I believe the best one) is to optain another used guard and keep mine as original when I want to return to stock.

Delta - how did you manage that? Maybe you have another type of shocks that don§t have this problem?

This is quite a coincidence! I was about to post two pics of Koni's with a question myself and maybe it will give you a clue. The other day I was refitting the LH side mufflers, when I saw something I had never noticed before: the clevis of my model Koni shocks are off center. I suppose I must have fit them correctly decades ago as they still function flawlessly. Erny, look at the pictures and maybe your answer is there. Oh... and I have no issues something is touching other parts like the chainguard, so if your Koni's are like mine I would twist them 180^o.

Ahhh I see now - I have different shocks obviously...looks like yours have steel (chromed) body at the bottom (clevis). Mine are aluminium ones, much more massive. So, I need to look for another solution 

And I installed them correcty, there is no way to reverse it anyway - only one hole has thread - it need to go to wheel (bolt comes from pipes side). See pic in the beginning of this thread - this is outside side

Old Konis are difficult if not impossible to get parts for, the later ones you gan get parts from Ikon

Well question is if my shocks (aluminum lower body) are old or newer..

That's misleading info, I'm afraid. Parts for the 'old' Koni's are still available through Ikon, as Koni arranged in the deal - when they sold the motorcycle shocks division to the Australians - that Ikon would continue to provide the service. The number on my Koni's is 7610-1302. They are still available, same number, only with the name Ikon. They were and still are popular. I wonder if you have been sold the wrong type, for another Honda 500 or 550.

I got a seal kit for my Koni 7610 Dial-a-rides from these people https://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/ very helpful, kit was £37.00 in June 2023. As for oil they and Ikon suggested SAE5, I was going to use either SAE 5 fork oilor straight SAE 5 hydraulic oil (ISO VG 22), as for qauntity the attached image is what they sent me. Hope this is of use.
