After 35 years of 'Winging, I finally sold my 1500 SE a few weeks back.  I have ended up with quite a few secondhand spares for 1500.  I would like to move them on to a specialist who could use them all on customers bikes.  Obviously would like them away in one hit.  Transport could be arranged.  Any ideas of a suitable outlet?

Hope all is well with you folk 'darn sarf'. I'm trying to tidy up a bit - hence the desire to move this stuff on.  35 years and well over 100,000 miles on 'Wings has come to an end and I've ordered a new mobility scooter (Honda 350 Forza  ) for the last few laps.  550 just about ready - registered and itching to have a good ride sometime soon - turned out a really nice bike - but you knew it could!

Thanks Ken, I'll give them a shot too - it's a shame to let this stuff gather dust on my shelves when someone might be in need.  The 'floor thief' has been in my garage - there used to be loads more!  I think you might be surprised that Glasgow is closer to you than me Ken, and I'm happy with that

That's a good shout Ken - I'd forgotten about John at Wingovations. Really nice chap and does excellent work (especially GL1000 carb work).

Yeah James, you seen his fix for the broken carb float pillars, really nice little mod that, saves a carb from being thrown away. Would probably work on the 500/550 carbs as well.

I have a mate Ian whose wife has terminal cancer, she loves going on bikes but the motion of a normal bike is too severe for her to enjoy the ride, so my mate is looking for a wing with air suspension so he can soften the ride as much as possible and maybe extend her riding time as long as possible. It's unsure just how long she has got, it's just one of those questions that has no answer, 6 months, a year or maybe even 2-3 years, depends on lots of things.

Do you happen to know of any Wings suitable, needs to be cheap as he's not working whilst he looks after her, needs to have air suspension and I presume that means the later models, 1200? 1500? not sure myself.

Sorry to hear that Ken,
I know a great many of us have been touched in one way or another by this dreadful disease.  My Wife also went through a long process of treatment but thankfully She's still with me.  One reason the Wing eventually went after many fantastic adventures, beginning in 1988.
The 1500 has very good air suspension at the rear, adjusted by an on board compressor.  Later 15s had air forks too but manually adjusted.  They really are very comfortable mile-munchers and the SE versions have height adjustable foot boards for the passenger, so in my opinion that would be what to look for.  I don't know of any for sale just now but they are around at reasonable money and like any machine, if regularly serviced many have easily topped the 200,000 mile mark and quite a few have doubled that, so mileage shouldn't be an issue.  I lost £1000 in 20 years on my last one, so if it's bought right might sell for nearly the same.  I lost £400 in 10 years on the new 1200 Aspencade we got in 1988.  Surprisingly agile for something nearly as heavy as a Mini but I would steer clear of Interstate models - they don't have reverse gear - a God send on a downward sloping gravel car park

I see from their web page that he has had a GL1800 offered to him.  I have never even ridden one for fear of desperately wanting one, so can't really give any meaningful first hand info on those.  All reports suggest more of a sporty feel but slightly less luggage capacity than the 15.  A guy in the States took one over 1 million miles and another he has is up around 600,000, so once again high milers are no problem.  Hope your friends get some really memorable trips in soon,

After your suggestions Ian he's looking seriously at the 1500SE, he wasn't aware of the adjustable floorplates, I've just found one at £3999 which is more realistic for his finances. He may get real lucky and be on the road this summer, lets hope so, Debs is a lovely person and an ex nurse so she deserves to be treated like the princess she is, we all owe our nurses so much, it would be a crying shame if we let her down after what they've done for us recently. Daves also a nurse but in mental health, another care giver who now needs our help as well.
