Just moved the 550 off the bench and had a little sneak ride down to the feet of our road and back.  Wanted to take a few pics for the insurance and actually try the thing out - hell, it's quiet and so smooth.  Gear lever seems a bit long, even in size 9's, everything else just fine.

Thanks for the replies - I've enjoyed doing this one more than any other (and I've done a good few!) Can't explain just why but a big thanks to all on the Forum who helped in any way.  Cracking day today too and I just had a phone call to say the new mobility scooter (Red 350 Forza) has arrived in Aberdeen.  We're away for a short trip so have asked them to fire it up here by Northlink boat when we get back.

Not sure which but the 500 and the 500 gear levers look identical but in actual fact one is every so slightly shorter than the other. I did a post on it on my restoration thread I think. Could be you have the ever so slightly longer one and fitting the other may help even if it's only a little. I did at one point in the past cut one in half and weld it back together much shorter, then had it chromed again. Didn't affect the gear change action at all.

Back about 18th so if it's not blowin a hoolie or 6" of snow, I give you a bell. 

Ken, it's time for me to own up as a numpty - I hadn't rotated the l/h footrest fully anticlockwise against the peg before tightening the nut!  Just done that and distance is acceptable now.  Still bigger distance than 350 and 400 but I might grow into it!

You knew it was worth doing and it's going to be used!  There are still things to do of course - I haven't re-built the wheels yet or straightened that headlamp ear - they can wait until the Winter comes around again. I'll probably have the rims, silencer and fork ear re-chromed rather than replace them and I can BZP the spokes myself - that always brightens things up.  I'm really grateful that you let me have a go!
