At 2 turns out it seems ro run and idle better, it'll still start with no choke though from cold so must still be quite rich, until I can get to the bottom of why I have no speedo and rpm readings I can't really take it out nor play with carb fine tuning

Bit of a snorkel question, apart from the obvious job it serves to keep out water is there any tuning or performance reason to have a snorkel fitted to the top of my filter lid or could I just mount some mesh over the lid opening?

Originaly for noise supression in certain european countries (Germany) came with smaller jets as airflow restricted so if you use open lid would suspect you would need the 500 jets

I've got the lid Bryan so if I fitted the lid to narrow the opening and mesh it to prevent leaves etc would I be OK to run the standard 550f jets do you think?

Someone told me the main reason for your different jetting was more to do with it being a 4 into1 rather  than just the air box.

The top tool tray is not a close fit to the airbox anyway,  It's probably just designed to keep water from the seat out of the air intake.

My bad I was thinking it was a 500, presumably the 550 might have some sort of vent circulation from the cam case cover as well for reduced emissions?

I really haven't much to update on my project lately, I've been held up laying a brick plinth for my workshop build.  I've tried to set up the magnetic speedo sensor supplied by Koso but can't get a reading yet. The speedo converter I got from Digital Speedos was definitely incompatible, attempts to contact them by phone and email have all been ignored so be careful using this company.

Hopefully I will have finished my brickwork by the end of next week so should be able to turn my attention back to the 550!

I did something!  My airbox had no lid or brackets to hold a lid on, thankfully Nige on here helped me out with a 550f lid so other than stripping and repainting it all I needed to do was make some brackets and weld some m5  threaded bar to them to locate through the lid holes.  It's worked out really well so all I need to do is make a new seal and mesh the opening,  the snorkel won't fit below mu home made seat base but I'm not sure it affects the running but is there more to prevent rain ingress...I could be wrong.

Top tip - remember to take the chuck key out of your pillar drill BEFORE turning it on!   Chuck key still yet to be found.

I hope that it didn't hit any bike parts on it's solo flight!
