Late afternoon call to the insurance to add the CB360 to the CB750 policy and I took it round the block a couple of times, that seemed ok so I ventured slightly further afield, that wasn’t planned hence the no mirrors situation!

Once the bike had warmed up properly I found it didn’t want to pull hardly at all when I opened up the throttle, the more I twisted the grip the more it held back and slowed down. I limped it home and shut the door on it for now but overall I’m very happy it goes at all.

It does start from cold every time with no choke, so maybe that tells me something?

She looks lovely. Does it have 2 horns fitted, or is that something else?. I know diddly squat about the 360.

It is two horns, one doesn’t work which I presume is the original? I just left it as it came, thinking I might get around to learning a bit more later.

Great job Craizee to get her back on the road! A bit of fettling to get it running right and you will be off. Looking at the bike with its patina a tank and side panel repaint and a seat cover you will be well on your way to have a nice classic. I take it that engine side covers would have been silver originally?
Ash is the Horn whisperer on here I believe. Can’t remember the process but involves a bit of “bump starting” to give it the message.

Yes, silver casings originally and may revert but wanted to make half presentable for now. I have seen Ash’s advice on the horns, something for those long dark nights perhaps?

Today I split my first ever engine, that felt good!

The countershaft stayed in the lower crankcase as the seal circled in blue is not budging and will not it let go.

Any tips to get this seal shifted without doing any damage? As a complete first timer, I’m nervous about damaging anything by over enthusiastic encouragement!

I would turn the casing upside down holding it up with a couple of timber off cuts so gravity exerts it's influence on the whole shaft assembly. Put some rubber matting or old towels down for the gear train to fall on.
Squirt some releasing fluid where the seal contacts the casing then give it a tap from above with a rubber malett, that should break the bond that has formed between the seal & the case. IIRC there is a lug on the seal that stops it from rotating.

It’s had a lick of paint and now it’s time to put the bottom back together again. A whole raft of firsts for me and I’m loving it!

Great progress and you are enjoying do it, very therapeutic to rebuild your own engine and find out how it all works.
Wrap the crankcases in some cling film to keep the oil in and the damp & dirt out whilst you get on with other things👍

I just wished I had started getting more involved all those years ago instead of waiting until I was in my 50’s!
