CB750 fuel filters

Does anyone use in-line fuel filters?

If so which one and where did you get it from?

The ones I had died of old age and the ones I ordered here in France both had a hole in the gauze.

I use an alloy bodied one for my 400.

I tried a straight one, but it doesn't work on the 750; it needs to be a 90º one.

Is it a space issue?

On my 400 the fuel pipe runs in a loop under the seat using a straight inline filter - not my idea a member here showed me how to route it.

Only draw back is if you run your carbs dry of fuel it takes a bit longer - not for the purists.

Yep, space is the issue and the direction the lines have to run.

Years ago my pegaso had an aluminium inline filter the sponge insert was pulled through the fuel hose about an inch one day when in the fast lane on the M11 causing fuel starvation

No Sponge in the Aeroline filters - just a rubber type sealing washer. The filter medium looks like a lump of stone like material.

There are a lot of the see through 90 deg filters out there - does someone make a decent one?

Do some makes of  bikes have them factory fitted?

I've never known an inline filter not cause issues. So whenever I've bought a bike with one fitted they go straight in the bin if the tank is clean

The 400 has filter gauzes fitted inside the tank. If they are fitted and not damaged you don't need the problems caused by fitting a second filter.

Agree there should be no need for an additional filter if the fuel tap one is in place
