Hello from Chesterfield
« on: June 18, 2024, 09:30:09 PM »
Hi All,

I'm Dan from Chesterfield and I've just acquired a 1976 Cb750a
Yes I am way to lazy to change gears!

Up till now I've never seen one of these.i suppose it's not a popular option but it's certainly different.

Anyway, Hello to you all and happy riding.

Regards
Dan

Welcome to the forum Dan. Was the CB750A only built for the US or was it also sold in the UK alongside the CB400A?

Hi Dan

Where are you in Chezzy!?

Be interesting to hear how the auto variant goes for you. A rare thing and not really discussed much as a result.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Welcome Dan,  I used to live up that neck of the woods in a village called Clowne circa 1971!

Is the Aquarius Club still going - probably a block of HMO's now?

Welcome to the forum. The 750A was an attempt by Honda to lure American males to try 2 wheels, hence the auto box and a
  much softer engine..
If it still has the original exhaust I think they are the same as the 750F1 and very difficult to find so don't just swap it out thinking
  it's not worth anything.

Not sure about that old club in Clown, sounds like it was an interesting hangout,
Had a trip out to the office over in Manchester and about 5 miles in spluttered and started running dog rough. I pressed on having to get to work with a terrible miss fire and occasional back fire. Checked the points and for some reason they had completely closed up on 2&3 and just a minute gap on 1&4 really strange as adjustment screws were really tight... easy road side fix and rode home perfect

Clowne only had the Miners Welfare, Aquarius Club was on the Sheffield Road on the edge of Chesterfield. I've done a Google search - now demolished. When it opened in 1972 headline act was Cannon & Ball!
You did well to do the roadside fix. In the 1960s it was common on cars for points to close up just after a service. Often dues to the heel of the points having a poor edge finish that would wear down after 50 miles. Once reset they were usually fine as they had bedded in.
