Keihin 022a carburettor choke lever
« on: September 03, 2024, 05:39:29 PM »
Is it a spring and tiny ball bearing that holds the choke lever in the fully open position?

Looking at mine, I have the tiny spring but it looks like there should be a ball bearing or something to keep it locked open.

Yes there is a very small ball bearing at the end.

Magnet sweep required!

Warning! You may find a lot of missing 10mm sockets.  ;D

I found the spring with a magnet sweep.

I work with superconducting electromagnets every day, trouble is they weigh around 5 tons and are insanely strong.
Wouldn’t be a good idea to use one, everything metal would be stuck to it and wouldn’t come off.

Thanks Ted, my ball bearing is somewhere on my garage floor I think.

I "lost" a clip from my 500 gearshift fork - did the sweeping of the garage floor thing with brush then magnet on the sweepings, no luck until about two months later I spotted it by chance about six feet away from where it "escaped" during removal.

I hate when that happens, there’s so many nooks and crannies in an average w/shop that something can find its way into. Although south of the border do you have “nooks and crannies”?😜

you can use a sock over the end of a vaccum cleaner hose, the sock works as a sieve to stop the parts going where they shouldnt, also good for non metalic parts..
