Polish (as in Poland) chrome

Hi all. I found a local (Newbury) bike service/repair shop to remove the dents from my CB550 tank and repaint it and the panels. I haven’t got it back yet so fingers crossed it’s good. However, the bloke that runs the shop is Polish and we got chatting as you do. The conversation got round to chrome plating and the difficulty in getting chroming done in the UK. He went on to say Poland is rife with chrome platers and said if I ever need any chroming done to let him know and he would send it back home for plating which he reckoned cost about 1/7th of UK costs and would
Take 3 to 4 weeks to turn around. I don’t have any chroming I need done but was wondering if anyone on the forum had tried this approach?

That’s worth thinking about for good quality chrome work. Some might fear the parts getting lost in transit, that could happen in this country!

Wendy & I were good friends with a Polish couple, he ran a Cupra, he had the dual clutch flywheel replaced when he visited his family in the summer. Not only was it less expensive, the quality of work was excellent. I envisage they will do high quality work without the extremes of waste control.
That said iirc they use LPG as their main  fuel to reduce air pollution.

You could always take the chrome to Poland yourself and take in the fantastic Speedway whilst you are there (Speedway is bigger than football in Poland). The day after you can get some dental work done as well  .
Poland has always been a place I want to visit. My wife bought me a ticket for the final round of the Speedway GP about five years ago, she bought them six months in advance. After 8 rounds of the GP series it all came down to the final round in Poland as to who would be crowned world champion. Of course the scrot who we bought the tickets from sold them at a higher price to someone else given the importance of the final round of the series (she had bought them from the Viagogo site that is nothing more than a total rip-off as it transpired, just a third party re-selling site). Right up to 9am on the day of the trip they were telling us we'd get the tickets, we never did. She lost everything, flight cost, hotel, car hire and stadium tickets not to mention all the frustration and never getting a single penny back from Viagogo.
Despite all the above I'd still like to visit Poland, looks like an amazing country.
