Just removed rear wheel to strip the hub as I’m putting new rims on.Can’t remove the rear sprocket assembly, it’s as if the cush drive is welded to the hub.Tried with a piece of wood across the wheel and a crow bar under the sprocket, you can see it move a tiny fraction of a mm but won’t come apart. Tried heat, WD40, nothing will shift it.Taken many hubs apart over the years, never come across this.Any ideas? 74 550 K0.
I was just about to remove the retaining ring on mine this afternoon when I noticed that it is staked on all of the four parts you can see. I generally just drill any staking I come across with a small drill just to clear it, do you think that will work on this. Then I guess it’s off to make yet another special tool to remove the retaining ring. Good to know about it being a left hand thread, the arrow on mine is not really distinguishable any more, it’s just a faint line now.
