Remebering how much oil got pumped out of the breather pipe on a pre unit Triumph which was "dry" sump when the rotary disc failed i am not sure a permanent open ended pipe is a good idea, there is a lot of windage inside the crankcases
The Stahlbus system projects forward Nigel. It's extremely good and not a single drop has leaked in around 5-6 years it's been fitted to my 1300. Except for what's in the cap of course, some drops do collect in there, probably from when it's used and the cap is refitted afterwards. It would of course project downwards IF the sump plug was mounted downwards, which they are on a car normally.
