Scanned from slides taken in 1982. Still has the battery breather pipe decal and the 410 rear tyre and the 2_4 seat, [ Guests cannot view attachments ] so pre dates repainting of the frame.

Those really were the good days 🎻 .
I passed out as a craftsman Coach Trimmer in August 1982 following a four year apprenticeship. I was on £85/week then 😁.
How much did you pay for the bike in 1982? I paid £400 for my first 400/4F that year with a £200 trade in on my CB200 from Speedway Motorcycles of Acton.

£695 in 1980. I ran it 6 months over summer and a car for six months  over winter.  Got married in 83 and parked it 84-87 while studying part time for a degree in chemistry. Did an oily rag resto in 87 and it's been in use regularly since then. Think the complete exhaust system was about £150 in 88.

That seat is still in my loft, guess it's not a fashion statement these days then.  The compartment under the hump was handy for storing a length of Chain though.

Dave

Certainly were the good ol' days, when I could have the GF sitting on the front seat and reach around her to get it up the gears and then leave her to it for a while. Don't think we would be able manage that now or get away with it.

The  70s were more fun though!

So far as the CB400F goes these things should go the same way as giant ties, dagger collars, bell bottoms and platform shoes....to the dustbin of history!  ;D
