Honda CB250N parts
« on: July 13, 2025, 05:18:08 PM »
I have a friend who just dropped off a 1980 CB250N that needs repairs. Just wondering if any of you wonderful people have any stashes of parts available for that model. Am firstly looking for a good set of barrels and a left hand exhaust header pipe. It's allowed as its an SOHC Honda. Cheers.

That's not the problem Bryan. It started with a base gasket oil leak at the front. Bodgers fix was to fill the area with plumbers silicone. On stripping, the barrels have been welded at some point and the they have distorted with the heat. The gasket face is not flat. Also has an incredible bodge to the front lower made up of wire wool mixed with JB Weld to block something up. Cant see what it is as I cant get it out. Thought I had seen most bodges but that one is new on me. Easier to just find another decent set of barrels and swap my good liners into that.

Hard to believe parts for those would  be hard to find, they were common as ****..... Nor the prices people want for them?

They sold on the big bike feel and look but not the best. Wont be alone in saying in terms of 4 strokes of the era,  Hondas own CB250RS was a better bike in my opinion.

Maybe they have a nostalgic value nowadays?

But back in the day when I worked on them the Honda CB250 Super Dream was the brunt of many jokes in the trade, like ' couldn't pull a hen off a nest' and such like.

Roy, be careful not to spend too much money on it.

Just looked on fleabay - lots of barrels and not dear. Downpipes too but steep money if anything like decent from a quick  search. 400 the same headers -  maybe Ted will have some or know likely sources with him doing the 400 version?

Check out CM custom model as wider search for barrels at least as downpipes may differ?

That's a stark contrast to the past. I rode one in despatch for a year or so before I gave up with it,  ::) but I knew three abandoned ones stood or laying on their sides around London in the days when m/c parking bays were free and plentiful. That's how I scourced my first replacement indicator.  ;)

I just rechecked fleabay, i hate ai! Put a space in and you get nowt, dont and you get lots, they are there including about £50 with pistons.
Big problem was carbs, one local dealer used to say "i will ultrasonic twice, then you buy new if it still plays up!"
