This didn't sell ... 2 VIN no's from mine (1st batch of 20 UK CB750's)  ! Thank Chri*t it didn't go for peanuts. Sold for around £17k only a couple of years back.

That is is not original paint, is it? Peculiar positioning of the brake actuator rod.

I seem to remember some people getting rather paranoid about the torque arm failing and the brake locking on. But, of course, even with the inverted fitting of the brake rod, if the back plate were to spin round the brake would still be applied as the cam works in both directions. Slightly less chance of this happening if the brake is operated by a cable. as on the early CB 72's etc.

The 500s speedo and tacho don’t look correct?
The selling price gives me hope that my money pit K1 550 resto will have some value when it’s finished. Not that it matters because I don’t want to sell it, but it does help to think the cash is not going into a total black hole. If you know what I mean.

That was a pretty special 500K0 though ..1972 London show bike and only a few genuine UK K0's imported.
There have been 3 sales of those genuine UK 500K0's that I know of and all sold around £10k. albeit top notch restos. ... not sure how much it would cost to bring that auctioned bike up to the same standard.

Here is a rather cute photo of that 750K0 GVX 44H  with it's original owner, who bought it new. The guy who restored it (Mick) took it round to his house to show him after he had finished it.
GVX 50H was in the London Science Museum's remote storage unit last time I heard of it.

Watched some of it. The 500's celebrity status didn't count for much. Looks sound but aged, like many of us. Nice to see it's still wearing its original mirrors and it does look like a new paint job. Looks like the rocker cover has been disturbed and I wonder what else in its 53/54 years.
If the normal auction charges apply to the sale of that 750K0 then they will only get just over £9400. That's a 45% loss on the £17k

Yea agree .. not sure where that leads to with the likes of Freddy and Frank who have numerous K0's but not early ones like that one. Mick Raffle who restored the auction one had a stash of NOS parts, if I remember correctly (before everyone jumped on the bandwagon)  and appears to have done a great job. Not sure where Mick is now ..hope he's still around.
Last time I saw the 1st one of the batch of 20 UK bikes UUT 849H (fairly recently) it was up for sale at Freddies and it was for sale at £25k ... OK it's significant to the UK guys and a real credit to Dave Mathieson in York, who originally restored it,  but to any other markets it's just a 10/69 diecast.
