Does anyone know a match for the black on the outer bezel/top case of the speedo/rev counter please?

My understanding is back then they did not have Paint Codes or RAL numbers.
Someone here will know the closest you can get, I used Peter Horton (kent400) who restored my clocks
Honda CB400NA Superdream (current money puddle)
Honda CB500 K1 (second money pit)

Honda CB400 four super sport (first money pit)
Link to my full restoration http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,23291.0.html
This is a neat 500 restoration in the USA.

Hi
Well I can’t give you a paint code, but can tell you that it is a satin black and post a photo of a genuine NOS tacho 37240-323-774 I have which may help. It’s a ND one and has been in a box all its life so is not faded.

Just some advice.

Rattle can spray paint gives a good result BUT it’s easily scratched and marked.

Powder coating can seem like a good idea but with the coat being thicker it can make assembling the clock afterwards nigh on impossible.

Ceramic coating gives a thin coating that is thin enough not to cause problems with assembly but it’s also extremely durable and quite hard to mark. It’s also fairly resistant to solvents like petrol and brake fluid.
