New member, 1973 CB350F

Greetings all,

New member from the NE US with a 1973 CB350F, received mostly in parts and being rebuilt. The top end is near done and I'm looking forward to putting it back together when the weather breaks. I've gotten a lot of help from these forums on work done so far so thank you all/mods and am happy to be part of the group!

Welcome to the group from an Island at the very north of Scotland!  I'm also an owner of one of these lovely little Swiss watches - mine too came from US, as did many of the parts needed. There still seems to be a following and lots of good used parts over your side of the pond.

@Ian The bike had maybe 93% of the original parts so it's primarily consumables its needed. I am surprised to hear about parts on your side of the pond because cmsnl seems to have tons. but shipping for small stuff from them here is pretty much out of the question. Fortunately I got most of the parts from 4into1 before they upped the minimum order. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your rebuild, there is always plenty of friendly and helpful advice here when you need it.

Re parts supply, The US was a good source of parts for us but sky high postal charges and import duties have tended to kill it off.  Also CMSNL are in the Nederlands, so again we have import duty to pay plus postage,  plus the couriers put a charge on for getting the good through the whole stupid mess that importing anything is now.  So as with you getting small orders just isn’t worth while.

Hi JC,
It wasn't just a few consumables that I needed for mine - there was lots of difficult to find stuff too.  A good proportion came from a real guru for finding stuff over in Orange County - but that was well over 20 years ago!
I have both 400 and 550 fours too but the 350 is just such a lovely thing to pootle about on and of course a 5 speed box and better riding position for me.
This is mine as found and bought for £200 back then!

@Ian that is one good looking bike. It's great to see people keeping these bikes in that condition as personally I am not interested in extensive modding. Well unless I stumble across a 400F engine which apparently fits into the 350F frame...

Before getting this one I was casually looking up general and common hard-to-get parts costs, and for some reason my brain took a vacation and became completely oblivious for a good week or two that the CB350 and CB350F are 90% different beasts. Maybe because a CB350F search pulls up so many twin results or maybe because someone forgot their nap that day.. Anyways when it got here and I made the first list of parts to get I quickly found out it wasn't going to be quite so easy   

@Rayzerman the carbs on mine are still in a box and no idea what shape (internally) they are in. is there something specific brass to be on the lookout for? Honda unobtainium parts?
