Indicator Buzzer location & Bracket ?
« on: May 26, 2026, 08:25:12 PM »
I know these are not to every ones liking, but we have dropped on a couple of original indicator buzzers.

We used to get these off goldwing riders who soon got annoyed with them in the 70's

I think I remember on the 750 F1 we had a mounting bracket with a square hole which was mounted up near headlamp to fit the buzzer into.

I am looking to fit to the 400/4 but a bit stumped at the moment as to where it should mount and if there is a bracket on bike or one i need to source/make.

If anyone has a picture of correct mount or where it should fit on bike it would be appreciated.

Not sure about the 400 but the 550F has it mounted on the inside of the fork ear. The reinforcing plate welded to the ear itself. The nearside one has the square hole punched through it. Maybe check there on the 400.

I think they were only fitted to JDM models, like the speed sensor was JDM only. I know they were never fitted as standard to UK models, so maybe there is no fitting bracket for it as standard.

Cheers for info
Well if everything else is done I can spend some time in garage and make a couple of brackets
Didn't want to if there was a standard bracket out there or on bike

You could try fitting it to the speed sensing bracket fitted to the left hand side of the top frame tube and below the front of the fuel tank. As Julie said, the speed sensor wasn't fitted to UK bikes but the bracket is still there and it is basically used to support the wiring loom on the left hand side from the headstock.

Why not forget about it and leave them blinking like everybody else does!!!  :)

Rode behind a guy on a Triumph Bonnie yesterday who had his right blinker flashing for nearly 10 miles.  He finally "fixed it" when he had to make a left turn...  ::)

Not like I haven't done the same thing...with the blinker light on the dash flashing away...

Alcoholic reasoning:- To save faffing about with extra wiring, when you operate the indicators, make the loud beeping noise with your mouth. Pedestrians will certaionly look at you, and you most definitely will not forget to cancel the indicators!! Logical???

I have one fitted to my CD250u, standard kit on these, Graham has disconnected the one on his CD250u but he says I can't be trusted to turn the indicator off so I need the beep to remind me 🙄🙄🙄. It is a total pain, I absolutely hate it and I can see why at one time they were banned, I think it was to save the sanity of the rider and everyone close by as well as for safety reasons.

I’ve already mentioned it before Ted, thought you lot might have forgotten though. Yep, side stand alarm. If you get a set of 4 into 4 for your 500 Ted, test the side stand doesn’t hit the outer exhaust when it goes up, leaves a hell of a dent over time. Most have a slight bend in them from being left down. Gonna try an induction coil and a press to see if I can straighten mine.
