After 10 years of BMW R1200 GS LC ownership I’ve gone in a different direction.

Ohh, very fast just standing still  8). The blue wheels look good with the dark finish on the rest of the bike 👍

I fancied a stock MT, but I’m not too keen on the 26 colour schemes. I had considered the new CB 1000 Hornet, but they seem to have a serious engine issue re excessive oil consumption.

Apparently that's been cured now. Honda say it was a bad batch of pistons & rings. They've recalled all the bikes affected, they can't afford another VF750 debacle!

At least honda to their credit acknowledged the problem as soon as it was known about and did something to rectify it unlike KTM who just ignored the engine issues or their bikes and did nothing about it until they were forced to (by going bust). Personally I'd never buy a KTM after the way they behaved. The bikes affected had the Chinese made engine and that itself is a red flag for me regarding Chinese bikes. How good is their quality coupled with the poor resale value and lack of dealers especially considering how many Chinese bike brands are out there now.

Thanks, Ted. I suppose it’s the contemporary look. TBH it’s a fantastic machine in all areas, though I suspect 400 mile days may be a thing of the past, mainly due to my physical state!

Restricted? The only restriction is how long you can hang on.😁

Big miles on a naked bike are really hard work. I've done 500 mile days on a Speed Triple, not any more! 🥴

I’m not sure the problem has been ‘cured’, but Honda have acknowledged the uncharacteristically high oil consumption. Most owners are returning to dealers to have the oil level checked, topped up as necessary and then being asked to keep a close eye on the situation so as not to run the oil level too low, which would lead  to oil starvation and catastrophic engine failure. Does anybody know of an owner who has had an engine replacement or had the jugs and pistons replaced?
