I've only ever owned one Combination that I bought from "Sportorama" a part of what was Brocklehurst Motors at Chesterfield. It was an Ariel Square Four with a Chair, a bargain at £45. As I rode away from the Showroom I became aware of a serious steering wobble that even with the steering damper wound fully down unnerved me.
More frights were in store as I swept round some tight bendy roads realising that left hand bends were ok, right bends felt odd.
After a couple of hours I returned the Ariel, provided I spent more money I would be given what I paid for it as long as I spent more. I returned home on a Maico Letta 250 scooter that was the best and last scooter I ever owned. It was black with yellow side panels & front mudguard, silver wheels. Only recently did I understand why it sounded odd when you pressed the electric starter button - pendulum starter that rocks the engine rather than rotates it.
