Roo collected and delivered my 500 from Bryan a few years ago now, only met him the once, what a great character, not seen Roo posting for ages.
I hope he bounces back from the knock backs that life has given him.

Yes a real genuine top bloke. Spoken at length with Roo a couple of times.

If you are out there Roo, give the forum a shout.

Top work Ken.  My patience would have ran out and it would have been tossed back in the spares box.  On the other hand I'm a hoarder who doesn't chuck stuff away.

Tail light bracket with 3 sets of holes for mounting the number plate
Sprocket cover with a dent
Fork sliders with a few scuffs too deep for paint to hide
Plastic replica rear mudguard
Alternator housing sound but grey with corrosion

Basically all stuff that could be refurbed with the right skills and time, and this is something that we all need to get used to when NOS parts dry up.

So we'll done Ken for showing us the way.

Regards
Dave

Fork sliders are very thick so most dents etc can be fairly easily removed without compromising safety. Same with rotor covers , sprocket covers can be a problem, I sanded right through one once. Threw it in a bin, then retrieved it as I thought maybe the metal would come in handy for something and bugger me but it did. I used a piece to repair another where a broken or loose chain had broken through the oil pump wall.

Roo is doing pretty well just lately, still bad internet connection though but he now has a lady friend ❤️❤️❤️ seems to be all loved up etc. somewhere to live and a potential long term job. I’m made up for him.

Good to read the update about Roo, I have messaged him with no response so his mobile might have changed or gone..

He’s still around, just had 2 WhatsApp messages from him this morning. Weeks will pass with nothing then loads at once. Supposed to be meeting up this month sometime if he comes North.

Good to hear Roo is doing well loved up (with the lady friend and obviously his VFR).
We tried to meet up at the Calne bike show a few years ago, we were both there but the phone signal was appalling and when one of sent a message where to met up the other one wouldn't get it!).
I know he struggled to get internet where he was following his split with the long haired general as he used to call her. He brought me back a tool box from the US for the TL125s I restored for a mate.
If you do see him Ken ask him to post on here👍
Lovely polishing by the way, absolute craftsmanship. My advice would be to build your workshop first though before taking on other peoples polishing as once you do they'll be no time to build it!

Spoke to him this morning Dave. He’s fishing and using a mate WiFi device to gain access. Said he was going to buy one himself.

Oddly we spoke about building the workshop and he’s in the process of building one himself at his new ladies house. I won’t be doing anyone else’s polishing at all. Not selling any parts, not offering any advice until we start getting some protection from  idiots who think they can say what they like when they like. I was considering selling some of my huge stockpiles of parts, I have hundreds of shell bearings for instance and lots of rare nos parts. That’s not happening now. Can you tell I’m unhappy?

I can tell you are unhappy Ken.
I didn't read all the thread I think you are referring to, well I read the first couple of responses but as I don't have a 500/550 it wasn't really relevant to me so I didn't read a lot of the replies and I was on blackout for a while as up in Scotland attending a very good friends funnel so wasn't really in the mood for forums etc.
Anyway my advice would be to let whatever has happened wash over, it just isn't worth it and you have bigger battles such getting back to full health and planning the workshop.
When Roo gets his router hopefully we'll see him back posting and really annoying you🙂.
All the best.

Ta Dave, that means a lot.

They say a near death experience changes you and that’s certainly true. I makes you realise that life is precious and we are obligated to pass on as much of what we’ve learned before we go. I’ve tried to do that. Now it’s time to say enough is enough. Life is far too short to be constantly battling with those that refuse to listen. If they ain’t going to listen then I ain’t gonna talk.

Lock this thread, I am done with it.

Before you lock it, I just want to say it's inspirational for a newbie like me.
