nearly done now, carb to air box rubbers are a bit tricky!! i notice there are 2 different lengths longer ones to the outer ends?? mine dont seem to line up, any tips anyone? also need advice on carb setting and synchronization. i have ordered a set of vaccum gauges.

Yes, the longer ones are at the ends and they line up if you have them rotated right.
I set my K3 carbs with a feeler gauge using No 2 as the reference so they were all open exactly the same to within a thou. A few weeks later I borrowed a friend's vacuum gauges and they were all perfect with no adjustment needed.

You have to do it with the carbs off. If I remember rightly you take the tops of the carbs off (2 screws) and then that lets you adjust 1, 3 & 4 to match No2. It's was a few years ago so I can't remember exact details but I remember it wasn't tricky.
