Did the Americans ever change their oil in the '70's ???
« on: February 24, 2014, 11:37:41 PM »
Fighting talk I know  ;D but did the Americans ever regularly change their oil on bikes in the '70's? Every cam follower (rocker) I am looking at  for, for my CB250/350K range twin on USA  Ebay.com  appears to be pitted or scored or both , even though there are numerous examples from really low mileage bikes. BTW I am doing a needle roller cam journal bearing conversion on my '69 CB250K0 if anyone is interested in the details.

Cheers ... AshD

good idea, please put up some pictures.

I once had one which had phosphor-bronze bushes fitted as a repair but they wore out just the same.  However, this may have been oil starvation, I can't remember, it was a long time ago.

Yes doing it myself. Got the bearing spec from HondaTwins.net but I got Timken bearings not INA.

Will post pics when I do it.

Step by step would be nice.   ;)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.
