Ebay K1 motor

Supposed to have been restored by John Wyatt so should be a nice engine, if it has been. He has good feedback, so no reason to suspect otherwise.

Ash, No labour charge on that invoice. So just parts ordered ;)

Yes and John Wyatt knows how to charge for labour. Anyone on here have experience of using him for engine work? A member on here got him to do some engine work on a Kawasaki and was not happy how it turned out, had to retrieve his part before it was junked. But John's resto's always look good from what I have seen so don't know what to think really.
BTW Trig went to Guildford on business yesterday and stopped off at Newport Pagnell Services both ways. Saw this amazing looking blue John Lewis Distribution Centre South of there at the side of the M1. Don't mention M1 BTW ...the 50 mph motorway!

Looks like that engine original came from bike imported by Govnor's Bridge MC's. Had some pretty nice NOS stuff from them over the years.. priced reasonably Buy-It -Now. They had a set of CB750K0 carbs a couple of years ago, dealer take off 99 quid !! ... missed out on those though :(  Talked to them at Stafford when I picked up my NOS CB250 exhausts they sold me .. nice friendly bunch!

Cheers .. Ash

So basically an engine with an invoice for parts that may or may not have been fitted (by someone) at some stage. Seems fishy to me...

Ah the uncertainty of eBay stuff James . Myself and UK Pete dismay over the amount of stuff we have had from eBay UK that turns out not to be as promised.
Wonder if John Wyatt has any record of working on that engine no.? Some early  K1's had sandcast heads and barrels BTW? Seller including carbs which is rare. Something tells me it sounds likea genuine deal to me .. but there's  a mug born every minute as they say ! Anyway surely if John Wyatt rebuilt the engine he would not have issued a separate invoice for parts with postage quoted?

Cheers ..Ash

Remember those F1 barrels/pistons  I sent you once Pete . They came off eBay and the seller assured me they were off his K1.  I was new to 750's then, looked at them when they arrived and they looked OK so stashed them  away and a year later realized they had 'knock' pins and 392 pistons. People ask us how we learned so much about 750K0's  ... we learned the hard way ...fast.

Cheers ..Ash

Just asked the seller: (Don't worry Pete etc.  I am not actually bidding on it)

Hi this looks a nice motor and very unusual to have carbs/coils  included too. Just a quick question before I consider bidding. Are you sure that John Wyatt actually fitted the parts or did he just supply-only them, please? I know people who have dealt with John and he would normally charge a substantial amount for labour and include parts and labour on an Invoice. Plus there is delivery stated on the Invoice. Just want to be sure if the price goes high !!

Kind regards.... Ashley

Go back a couple of years and i was probably the biggest ebay mug out there, i still have to stop myself now , i just love buying, however now money is  tight for me i just watch and buy the odd parts here and there , i am running out of work now so i will have sell on ebay to survive this winter, good time for me to get rid of the stuff i bought years back, i just recently sold my 750 sohc chopper, it was sad to see it go but it paid off my bills at the time
I wonder what his reply will be , i hope it stays at a sensible price as i could do with the top end although not correct i would use it on my k0 , then sell on the bottom end
