I'm anything BUT an expert!

It seems that this forum (that I like and respect) now regards me as an SOHC Expert.

Those of you who have read, and in many cases kindly responded to my posts, will know that I am anything but an SOHC expert! Whilst I will accept but not revel in this (automated?) new accolade, I won't be adding it to my CV for fear of being found out.

However, confession is good for the soul!

I know, number of posts generates these lovely accolades, yet for me the longer I spend on this forum, the more I realise the vastness of my ignorance of the details of sohc bikes. Sure I can nail one together, get it through an mot, and think it's a nice fairly original bike, but the real experts would rapidly spot it was a multitude of wrong year bits, or wrong continent etc.

  I had similar thoughts Drew when I saw I had reached the dizzy heights of expert. I was tempted to ask Steve to reset the counter just in case someone asked a question and expected me to know the answer !!!. If I had reached that grade for what I had learned from others that would be fine and more appropriate.

Spot on.Others albiet new may be listed as an expert but with all your questions on trying to resolve your problems you now have the answers.No one is never too old to learn new things, I know I have so carry on, some things we know lots about we have forgotten but with this site others jog what we have forgotten about.So long live all category's

Actually I think after you have completed a ground up restoration, it makes an expert out of you. Perhaps not a Guru though  .
