Honda 750 Hondamatic
« on: June 21, 2015, 10:39:10 PM »
Hi everyone

Have been thinking of buying a 750 automatic. I have found one and just wondered what you think to them. I already have a k2 a k7 and a F2 so thought about something different

Good if you have a duff left hand and can't pull the clutch.
It would have to be cheap as there hard to sell on.

They are a pain in the arse. Most parts have to come from the states and the auto box is like a big pump.

Would definitely avoid - not only is the riding experience underwhelming but they share a variant of PD carbs which are a nightmare to get running properly - also unique inlet diameter and if the rubbers are perished you're knackered. Seriously recommend you avoid.

;) they are like potholes (to be avoided)
nothing good to say about em really ,under powered, im sure the inlet ports are smaller than standard. the same goes for the carbs ,also the carb rubbers are impossible to find ,only two gears high and slow  :o

I've had a 400 twin auto that has a few things in common with the 750.
Torque convertor and two ratio box worked surprisingly well. You aren't intended to change gear, low for around town or steep hills, high the rest of the time.
It was not much quicker than a 125 but kept up with traffic.

Accept it for what it is and you might enjoy it. They're rare here because no one likes them so I wouldn't expect to find many people saying go for it.

Parts for the 400 were cheap even from the US.
