Just posted elsewhere banging on about this being the best forum, then it dawned on me I have not made a contribution for ages to keep the bl**dy thing rolling. So been there, done it. Anyone else need a reminder

I thought we would all like a reminder of how our dear departed friend Ralph reminded us to pay our Donations !!!
''Sorry to have to write this but enough is enough. For months loads of members ask question after question and most go away feeling happy.Well that's great but does anyone ever consider the time and effort off this site Steve in particular creates?A wealth of information is given received gratefully is not known.so come on you tight arses this site costs money wether or not you like some members is immaterial you get your answers free of charge.Every pint you donate keeps this one and only genuine site going, think about it from now, I will only give advice to known contributor's ''
Sorry
Bitsa
No more advice from our Bitsa but still lots from other members and worth every penny

With BITSAS words from the past ringing in my lugholes..........donation made.
I couldn't agree more with the earlier posts.....we all benefit tremendously from our Forum so we need to chuck in regular donations.........or like BITSA, one day it may no longer be with us. RIP.

Good reminder. I happen to have been there just last week but good to have the subject flagged up.
Paying by PayPal is nice and easy but they take a fee of 3.4% + 20p, which on a £10 donation is 54p.
Makes you wonder if there could be a better way to leave more of the 'donation' for what it is intended.
From the PayPal 'help' pages they have a 'Nonprofit discounted rate' which has a lower fee. Would we qualify for that?

If you are a Registered Charity you get their non-profit rate of 1.4%
My bike club (
www.tvam.org
) has saved about £500 in PayPal fees this year.
Thanks to you all for your kind support. It costs £400 a year for hosting and bandwidth. There are cheaper hosts (and I've tried a few) but you tend to get what you pay for…

Had another idea too ..when we give parts away for free on here to other members ..you know the bits that we would never use but can't be bothered to sell but too tight to chuck in the skip. How about a non-compulsory donation to the SOHC site of a quid or too or even 99p if that's what you normally pay for parts.
Just a thought on a sh*tty rainy day

That's a top idea Ash we should adopt that. Can't think who would only pay 99p for parts though? lol.
