I thought Honda still sold them

I looked on Dave Silver & CMSNL but I never thought Honda would still do them so Iust admit I didn't even try them.

I used spearex VHT enamel. SP127.
Once dry baked them in the oven slowly increasing the temp up to 100

I don't think I could lift the whole engine into the oven 😊

CB500/550 / Engine paint advice please.
« on: December 03, 2025, 05:55:18 PM »
Question for those who have painted their engine.

I've pulled the motor out of my 550 k4 to clean and paint it.

I've ordered Simonize VHT31D engine enamel.

In some places the 48 year old paint has flaked off.

Does it need an etch primer or undercoat or both?

Should I strip all the old paint off back to bare metal or rub it down & blend in where is flaked off?

Thanks.

CB500/550 / CB550 K tank decals
« on: September 22, 2025, 02:08:43 PM »
My bike is currently black (not original paint though) after a small mishap at the petrol pump when I spilt a small amount of fuel on the tank and it reacted so badly with the clear coat and the black near coat I'm
prepping my fuel tank ready for respray & would like to ask some advice.

Where to buy decent tank decals from?

There's a few on Ebay but I would like to hear from someone with experience so I don't waste even more money 😔

CB500/550 / Mudguards

Has anyone tried this place?

https://ebay.us/m/TG8UZN

My mudguards are a little bit rusty inside and eventually I'll either replace them or get them rechromed.

I imagine getting them rechromed would be more than getting new replica ones. Thanks 👍

Need a price Dave.

Those should sell quickly, always in demand.

Was hoping for sensible offers. I'm not expecting the silly prices some are asking on Ebay.

CB500/550 / Tyres
« on: September 01, 2025, 09:37:31 AM »
I'll soon be reaching a point where I'll be wanting to road test my 550k 4.

The front tyre is a brand new ContiGo 3.25 - 19 while the rear is a knackered 120/90 18 Cheng-Shen

Can someone please advise me on what tyre size the bike should have to match the front? I don't think there's any point throwing a perfectly good front tyre in the bin.

Thanks

The metal part would be a start & the 2 special wing nuts if you have them would be a great start. Just got to hunt down the rubber snorkel then.
