Been a 7+  month wait due to the painter being hospitalized but paint finally ready. Picking up my CB250K0 & CB350K1 paintwork on Monday ...can't wait ! Candy Red/White one set, Candy blue/green & white the other set. Both '69 bikes. Fortunately my JDM250K0 is metallic grey, one of few 60's/70's Honda's that actually used metallic not candy finish.

Think I will get all of my paintwork out of the loft on Tuesday night when missus is out at pub quiz, lay it out in the lounge and have a 'Tank porn' evening  ::)

BTW my 500/4 K0 Candy Jade/Jet Green set that Menno did, everyone who has seen it comments what a superb job he did,  on what I gather,  is a very difficult colour to get right.

Some really talented guys out there...hats off to you.

Are you sure she will be at a pub quiz?
Maybe she will be off to some clandestine gathering of valve radio enthusiasts.  :) :)

Can I take a guess at JDM as Japanese Domestic Model? Is that what the model was actually designated?

A very kind person on here sold me a NOS 'up to speed' lamp off one of those JDM 500's James. It comes with the head stem nut and a really long sleeved rubber lamp holder that slots into the top yoke stem tube. My speedo has a little inductive switch inside, adjustable on a quadrant .  The inductive switch is broken by a 'flag' attached to the rotating 'eddy current' aluminium disk driven by the magnetic drag. There is a little potted circuit board inside the speedo that conditions the sensor and drives the lamp. When the speedo gets to a certain speed level the light comes on. I told the instructor at a speed awareness course I was on that if my car had a light like that on it, as is fitted to my 1968 Honda,  I wouldn't have got caught out . Didn't go down too well  :-[

Do you have the JDM circuit diagram  for the 500 James? .. I think some Honda's have a little round module that does the pickup conditioning. I have one that came off a JDM CB175

It's of interest to me (as an electronics engineer) because, along with the solid state voltage regulator used on that model in 1968 (precise current dumping clamp unlike the single zener diode used on Triumphs) it was , to my knowledge, the first use of solid-state electronics on Honda motorcycles.

That's why I think that model was ground breaking in '68. Candy paint, diaphragm CV carbs, individual speedo/tacho, full chrome etc. 30BHP from a 250 engine etc. Problem is the engine is in high demand from the classic racer people and it bumps up engine/part prices and the silencers rot like stink and rare NOS. Silvers replica's are OK but not quite right but kindly Brituro who make them for DS produced me some unchromed ones to my exact spec at a very reasonable price. Nice people to deal with.

If of any interest to anyone on here are some nice pics of a ’68 350 and the MCM road test from ‘68

Outed here James   ;D,

http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,9848.msg69830.html#msg6983

Well Tuesdays tank porn night was postponed as Cathy's quiz night was off   :-[ :-[ :-[ :'(.

Picked up the paintwork though and it looks brilliant . It was in my car and I compared the candy red to a girl at works Clio and it's almost identical colour/finish?

Andrew has told me to get my candy red framed CD125A parts 'in the queue' so that he can get on with prep even though I wont get the fuel tank till after Christmas as its still in Japan.

At some point I want to send my spare 500K0 tank and panels to Menno to do in Candy Gold. However everyone on here talks about two different candy golds available. Any ideas views ?

BTW Menno's internal tank treatment is superb..dunno what he uses but far better than anyone else I have used over the years. ;)

1969 CB250K0 and '69 CB350K1 Done with modern Honda colours but Candy/Blue green is matched to NOS ear and you can't tell the difference but paint more than half the cost of RS Bikepaints.. One step closer. Not brill pics from iPhone that I think are sh*te and well overrated. B*stard thing got me lost finding Andrew near Tadcaster for over an hour, told me I was 3/4 hour away when I was actually 5 miles away. Forgot my 'real'  satnav

He's painting my CD125A next with candy red frame.

Gonna get Menno to do my spare 500/4 tank in Gold. Are there really two types? Oddjob/Bryan/Trigger/Menno?
