Indicator lens cover
« on: April 23, 2017, 07:00:28 PM »
Hi All, just found out when trying to replace damaged cover that the front indicator lens cover is slightly smaller diameter than the rear one on my '77 CB400. The new cover is advertised as fitting my bike so I'm wondering if this is this normal or has one been replaced at some stage and if so what is the correct diameter?
Thanks

Sounds like either the lens you have isn't genuine Stanley or the lamp isn't. The genuine lens will be marked Stanley and if I remember correctly a genuine lamp is marked Stanley on the inside.

Are you coming up with a different size than me Peter ?. My CB 400/4 measure 72mm and has original marked Stanley lenses and original marked Stanley lamps. Also, all the other bikes we have here with original Stanley measure the same

I've tried to measure mine and I'm getting around 65mm internal dia. They aren't marked Stanley so it looks like they are replacements.
Does anyone know which model/make might fit mine?

Not sure to be honest. I have just taken lenses of original K6 and K2 and they still measure 72mm

As Julie stated the original Stanley lens is 72mm, the one fitted to the replica lamp is 70mm. Both the original Stanley and the replica lamps are shown in the image. The original is the one on the left. Cleanly the lenses are not interchangeable

FYI, that phillips screw is where I attach the extra earth lead to connect it to the wiring loom.  Makes for a more reliable flash.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

I've bought 6 of these recently and although good value IMHO the lens locations are about 0.5mm smaller and not easily interchanged with vintage ones. The lenses are marked 6.0345. And they are two wire so no worries on grounding.

Or £45 for 4.
But expensive if all you want is a lens.
